We really need VbGarage for 3.5, phpBB is wiping the floor with VB

Have any of you seen this phpBB Garage? Its fantastic and has got me wishing I never changed from phpBB to Vbulletin, sorry folks :(

Is there any chance we can have something similar? I am more than willing to pay for it, as I am sure many other admins are as its a very worth while hack for any car related forum.

because every one who uses vbulletin is tite, there release a crappy lite version, and want you to pay a load for a better coded, more features one..

I am happy to pay for some one else's hard work, at the end of the day I am not able to do it so why shouldn't they get some money towards the hack. I just wish we had these types of hacks available to us :(

MorrisMcD 03-08-2006 07:06 PM

I am unsure why you think this isnt doable in vB.... It doesnt look any more elaborate of a hack than the ones available to vB... Someone just needs to make one :D

MatG 03-08-2006 08:07 PM

i dont think its un-doable at all, the fact it hasnt been done is my issue. It has been brought up a fair few times in the past but nothing has materialised from it :)

I really don't see what's so fantastic about the PHPBB garage? The only thing I can see what's different from the PHPBB garage they are using and the heavily modified version of the VBpicgallery that I am using is the rating system. I honestly think the way I have mine layed out... well it's alot cleaner than that of the PHPBBGarage. Soon I'll have the rating system, featured rides system, etc. http://www.muscle-mustangs.com/forums/vbpicgallery.php?

As I'm sure you know, vB Garage was never ported to 3.5.x. But, the coder behind it (noppid) created his own cheap gallery type software for 3.5.x called vBPicGallery. That may be to your liking. Essentially all your after is a gallery with input fields. In that case, you could try photoplog, which is a free hack, or you could buy an addon like Photopost Pro.

Where do you download vBPicGallery from?

Hi Rick I do like your garage gallery and I have looked at it many times as an option for my members but the phpBB one for me offers so much more for example:

quartermile database

rolling road database

insurance review

garage/shop review

Lots of fields per users gallery IE Modifications, model, colour, millage, etc etc

and then the whole database is searchable by the other users as well.

I think it is very good indeed :)

Admination - thanks for your input :) I do like vbgarag and indeed if the vbgarage and vbpicgallery were made into one nice package it would be not far of the phpBB hack. Shame that it has not been ported over to 3.5 :(
