Quick Help!

I'm upgrading from 3.0.7 to 3.5.4...

I have to add a lot of hacks before my members can post on the board

Question:

Can I install 3.5.4 first, install the hacks, and then restore the 3.0.7 database into the 3.5.4 databse?

Or do I need to install 3.0.7, restore my original database, upgrade to 3.5.4 and then install the hacks, causing a thread / post rollback when my members are able to use the board?

I greatly appreciate any answers here I just couldn't really find a board suited for this question on here.. searched through a lot of posts as well to find an answer.

And will it matter if I change the directory name of the forum to the current one it is set too, after I'm done hacking the board etc...?

Thanks...

I overlooked the entire modification discussion section.... feel free to move this when noticed..

You would need to use your 3.0 database, install 3.5 vB, run the upgrade and then install the 3.5 versions of the hacks you need. Be aware that the hacks you use might not have an upgrade function (if they store things in the database).

I suggest you create a testboard first to test all things out before you do the production upgrade.

Changing the directory would only require you to update the board url in your settings, and maybe the cookie domain/path.

Alrite, thanks... sorry about the double post there.

So there will be a post rollback.... I don't mind losing the hacks I've already got... rather start clean but I do want to keep the styles... Which I guess will take a bit of editing.

They seem to mess up a bit...

Thanks on that
