combine posts if by the same user within x time period

hi,

i remember there was a hack for this for 3.0.x, is this available for 3.5.x? I tried to search, and came up with nothing...is it out there?

ie. user x posts, and then posts again in the same thread, those 2 posts are joined together to make 1 bigger post.
