how does install work

Hi There
I have been trying to install some of the hacks found on vborg by clicking "install" but I have no idea how this is supposed to work..
Can someone please explain to me how I am able to install these hacks by clicking install. Thanx ;)

I remember being fooled by this originally also.. ;)

To install the hack, you must actually download the zip file included with the post and follow the instructions contained within. Whether it's editing templates, editing source code files or importing plugin/product files.. Clicking install simply indicates your "support" for that hack, and raises the install counter by 1.

Clicking install on the forums is only a way for forum owners to keep track of which hacks they have installed and to receive notifications of updates to those hacks. It does not actually install the hack on your site.

To install the hacks on your site, you will need to follow the instructions provided by the author. For 3.5.x, this usually involves downloading a zip file containing the necessary plug-in files and loading them into your vBulletin. For other hacks, you may need to manually make changes to the vBulletin files on your system.

Oops, you beat me to it! ;)

but then some hacks only have install and no zip or documents and that is why i questioned the whole install dealio..thanx for the replies and putting my head straight..;)

I think some hacks have been taken down by their authors, maybe because they want to charge for the hacks or because a bug was found and they have to fix it or something. Which hack exactly are you talking about?

Also, some hacks are too simple and the instuctions are contained in the first post. Especially with template mods, that's very common. :)
