Globalized Login

I have an HTML header that is PHP included on everypage of my site.

I'd like the header to have a login box in it, that can be used from any page in the domain that has the header included, not just the vBullitin pages. How can this be accomplished?

Also, how can I make my other non vB PHP pages check to see if the vB member is logged and, and what user group they are a member of?
