Subforums

I am at the moment on my forum creating a subforum then creating forums inside that subforum, now as I am doing this I have noticed that the forums that are inside the main subforum are also showing up inside the main forum

e.g

Main Forum - Subforums - Forums Inside Subforums

The forums inside the subforums are also showing up inside the main forum

is there anyway of stopping this or is this just happening and showing to the staff on the forum

Thanks

Try setting them as a Category instead of a Forum.

Will members and staff still be able to post in them if I set them as a category?

Marco van Herwaarden 03-01-2006 12:31 PM

No, a Category don't have posts.

I will need the members and staff to be able to post in them unfortunatly, is there any other way to stop this, or is that the only way?

Thanks

Try this: Go to Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Edit Templates (From the drop down menu). Then double click on Forum home templates from the menu on the left. Double click on forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost that will appear in the same menu and in the text field you'll see, in the 3rd line from the bottom you should see $childforumbits. Delete that, then click Save. Double click on forumhome_forumbit_level1_post and you'll see the same, in the 3rd line from the bottom. Delete that too, click Save again, and you should be done.
I hope this is what you wanted.

Just tried that and that gets rid of every single forum on the forum home, I just need to stop subforums inside subforums inside a main forum from showing in the main forum so that they just show inside the subforum in the main forum

Thanks anyway

Nikki

Mess around with the "Forum Display Listing Options" in your control panel (under "vBulletin Options") until you get the look you want. This isn't something you can hack into the templates, its in the controls.

I think I have done it, if I am correct which it looks like I have changed the Depth of Forums - Forum Display to 0 which has kept the main forums in but is now not showing the subforums for them forums as a long list which if this is correct is what I wanted, or it could be changed to 1 to make subforums show up as little links

Thanks for all the help
