username registeration check
 

isnt there a hack or option to check a username trying to be registered against one that already is registered, and lets the person trying to register know that name is not available, without having them submit the request for registration?

example:

i come to vb.org
i click register
i put gotti in the username
i goto password field, and start typing password, and a notification appears saying this username is not available.

isnt that a option or hack? i couldve sworn i saw that.

I think there was an AJAX namecheck hack available.
