Activate Subscription

I don't know if there is already something like this. I've noticed this on a few boards, but I can't remember who they are at this moment.

I'm trying to get a training website up and running. A few dollars per month, and you get access to all the training videos. If a school, or company sign up for a group/community license, I would like to add an area (Preferably in the registration area) where they can enter their group license code, and if its correct, their account user-group is bumped up to whatever I choose.

E.x. I tell vBulletin that code 'ABC' gives users a 1 year subscription to "expanded" usergroup. How can I do this??

Thanks,
Paul

You could do this with a trick.

Create a new usergroup for the members of that Group License. Make it a Public Joinable Group.

Now assign teh administrative contacts of the License as Group Leader, so they ca moderate join requests.

Maybe not the nicests option, but doable without any modifications.

Thanks for the reply. Although, there would be a very large amount of users who would join this group. I don't want to have to go through and manually see if they have paid for the subscription or, if they are just applying hoping to get in.

Even if I have to install a plugin or make template changes, would you know how to do this? Or do you know of a plugin?

Thanks for the quick reply and help,
Paul

The good thing about my solution would be that not you would have to aprove members requesting to join that group, but the organisation that purchased a group license.

That would work, I will try that first. Although, do you think if I posted this question in the Plugin creation area, someone might be able to create a plugin that would do this? If you enter the right code your usergroup gets upgraded.

Thanks for the help, and suggestions.

Paul

Amykhar was able to help me out with this problem as well... It's now working on www.xyztraining.com.

Thanks for all your help!
