Who Is vBulletin.org Exactly???

When I talk to the people at vBulletin.COM - where I actually purchased vBulletin, they're constantly referring me to vbulletin.org... but they talk about it like it's a completely separate entity - unrelated to them. But when I registered here, vbulletin.org somehow seemed to know or want my license number for vB.

So, who is vbulletin.ORG exactly? Are they one and the same as vbulletin.com - or completely separate?

The first rule of vb.org is that you can not talk about vb.org.
The second rule? If this is your first night, you have to hack.

Hello and welcome!

vB.com is the "official" site/community for all vB owners. It's run by the folks who produce the vBulletin product. Anything you want to know about the commercial package the way it is right out of the box, you can ask there. This is the place to go for official questions or support .. from installation and setup to how everything functions to security releases to upcoming releases.

vB.org is an "unofficial" site/community for vB owners who wish to make custom modifications or enhancements to the original source code they purchased. It's run by volunteers who work in cooperation with the official vB team (developers). Any changes we (all) make to the code or forum setup/interfaces we do totally at our own risk.. so proceed with some caution here as you become more familiar with this and always keep full backups before you change anything.

Have fun!

Talis

vB.org is an official vBulletin Hacking community. vB.org is owned by Jelsoft, and thats why they have your license # and all.

Long story short. vB.com used to have a forum for hacking. It then grew to large and they merged all hacking content from vB.com to vB.org. Now here we are. :)

Shortly said: we are the vBorg, resitance is futile ^^

longer said: talisman is right, except that we are the official modification site. but that just means we are supported officially by jelsoft (this site is hosted on a jelsoft server), but every teammember is doing his job as a volunteer and gets nothing for his job, and on the other hand does not have to answer any question, thats the unofficial part of us ;)
