$thread['preview'] <-- Pulling on a non-vb page

I'm writing an RSS reader for VB, and need to figure out how to pull the $thread['preview'] variable out and display it parsing out the BBCode + HTML from the preview on a non-vb page.

I've asked a few other places, and nobody seems to know how to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
