why do signature pictures automatically link to the picture directly?

My users are complaining that they can't make their signature images link to urls properly. The forum is putting in an automatic link to the image and stripping out any other url bbcodes.

It's probably just a setting in the AdminCP to change this behavior but I can't find one. Can anyone enlighten me? :)

Open your admincp and browse to the vBulletin options page. Select "User Profile Options" from the setting group drop down.

When the new page loads scroll down, near the bottom you'll find an option named "Allow [IMG] Code in Signatures". Make sure this is set to Yes.

That's already set to Yes. Any other ideas? :)

not sure I understand what you want ... but...

- do what Brad suggested
- make sure ALLOW VB CODE IN SIGNATURES is set to YES
- make sure member use the following format to add urls to images: [url=domain][img]image goes here[/img][/url]

no dynamic urls allowed (unless you enable this option in admincp)

if the problem continues disable the PLUGIN SYSTEM temporarily and confirm if problem still exist

Ok, I should explain better. :)

If I set my signature up as this:

Code:

[u rl=http://profile.xfire.com/evilgrin][im g]http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/evilgrin.png[/im g][/u rl]
What happens is the forum ignores the url tags and sets the link to the png file instead. So when I click on it, instead of going to my xfire profile I go to the png file url.

ie,

http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/evilgrin.png

Double checked all the settings you've mentioned so far:
  • Allow [IMG] Code in Signatures - YES
  • Allow VB Code in Signatures - YES
  • Allow Dynamic URLs - YES

I'll try and disable the plugin system and see if that makes the problem go away.

Ok, thanks for all the pointers on where to look. I tracked it down to a bug in one of our plugins. :)
