The problem with this world is... and my answer.

okay, I know I am going to get some critism for this post. But please be respectful to my opinions as well as others. As for the topic

The problem is religion.

The majority of people believe in some type of higher power. The problem is that people believe that their God is the only God and no one else's God matters. Before you think this guy is crazy just think about major events in the history of the world. Almost every conflict is somewhat rooted in religion and most are deeply rooted in religion.

my answer is this. Everyone should read a text of a religion other then thier's at least once in their life. They should meet and become friends with someone of another religion and learn thier customs. I think this could make the world a better place.

Please keep this thread appropriate and do not directly refer to anyone's religion as the best or the worst.

It's not as much religion, but diversity of culture, as most genocide and prejiduce comes in through more than one variable, but good some up. But, in a broader picture I would label the contriversy nowadays as "East VERSUS west".

I agree with you to the most part, but the idea leaves room for a result of more contriversial outcome, where x religion will study x religion for x amount of time and the x person will come to dislike x religion even more.

By the way, what influenced you to post this here (just curious. :))

this infact has been in use in many countries and schools as a requirement, except U.S., however, I would highly doubt that this will still do that much as the families and relatives play a major role in one's religion.

The problem with this world is idiots.

biagrin 02-15-2006 10:48 AM

religion isnt the problem. its the people who use it for their own end - terrorism, money etc.

I've read an interesting quote related to this topic: "It's not God I dislike, it's his fanclub I can't stand."

While I understand where you are coming from, I do not believe that only people who purposly are using religion to there gain are the only roots of the problem.

Bamastang, I agree that idiots cause alot of problems, take for instance our president. But that is a whole-nother thread that would take me hours of ranting to do it justice.

Cole - I posted this hear because I thought it would be interesting. Geeks can c ome up with the best remarks of all people

I agree that the problem with the world is idiots. People who are not idiots can HANDLE some other person being different from them in culture/religion/gender/sexual preference/political opinion/[insert noun here] without making it into a problem.

If nobody was an idiot, all those differences would still be there, yes, but nobody would give a damn. Doesn't get much better than that.

to expand on this - religion is ones belief in some higher power... just that, ONES belief. One of the biggest issues that coincide with the post is that everyone elses' religion is better and you will go to what ever hell for being defiant.

People will not accept other peoples beliefs, instead basically harrass another to attempt to guilt them to convert.

As said in this post - you do not have to believe what another believes in, but you do have to respect anothers choices. Although the stupid people (idiots) just keep yellin and screamin nonsense becuase they do not think.
