Basically, I thought it was just an easy thing to allow to request help on the official vB site, but seems to have more to it. That thread will give the information needed on what I'm trying to do.

Any help is appreciated :)

I don't get it ....
What exactly do you want to do?

Well, ok. I want to make a text link that links to the last post url of a selected forum (id 2). So, when a person clicks on the link, it will then send them to the latest post in the forum, id number 2.

This text link will be used within a php "if" command. This "if" command will ask if forum (id 2) has new posts (aka the same sort of indicator as the on/off images use), then display a certain html or xml code given. If there are no latest posts, display the "else" information defined within the "{"s.

NOTE: I have my integrational system linking (correctly) to the /global.php and /includes/ information of the vB 3.5.3 software. So, all that is needed is advice on how to do this.

Why do I need this sort of operation? I'm planning to have the news on the main page of my website strictly for what the website is about (gaming fansite = gaming news... tech fansite = tech news) and keep all site/forum related updates in a forum (id 2) thus seperate than the themed coverage news.

Why not just like to the forum? i just want to give a more interactive feel. Where it can alert of new announcement via a text link on the main page. Not only would linking to the last post of the forum (id 2), but also use the "if" command to display when there are and aren't new posts (hence new announcements). EX: If there are, display text line in bold, if not, keep normal. I'll possible change it is a image than text link, or choose a different effect, but the setup is the same.

Thank you.
