moved servers path issues/database
 
I'm using putty to ssh the backup from the old database on a different server, fresh install of vb, and am trying to restore the database into the new one using the command line

mysql -h servername -u dbusername -p databasename < /path/to/backupname.sql


Keep getting a directory and file not found error. Could it be the path I have wrong? the backup.sql is in the domain's root directory and using the path of /home/domain/backup.sql

I tried all sorts of paths and can't get it working. Would anyone know the correct path for this command?

I use to have same problem but since I using the software I metion in this thread is easy for me to backup and restore .

Thank you! It worked! :) I guess when we telneted in we kept seeing a time out but could not figure out why until we used the "dump" software and it showed a error in a mods table. Anyhow we are up and running but because we could not fix the table even with the mod turned off we had to back up from Jan 30 instead of today. Im sure we will work that out today after some sleep. Thanks again Redspider. :0
