stripping out images

Our board is fairly active...over 2,000 posts/day.

What I need is this:

When our users REPLY or QUOTE posts, I need a way to strip out images from the quotes or replies and only show the text of that post. We have lot's of images being posted since we are a beauty forum.

Is there a hack already for this? Or, anyone have a suggestion?
