I'd like this as well. Tried the vbExternal, but it doesn't seem to work.

Can you clarify what you're looking for a bit?

I've already got something for vBa CMPS that could probably be modified to work standalone in vb and generate output from a specified rss feed. Is that close to what you're looking for?

Users may able to choose the rss or xml feed from userprofiles. it may also include ajax so it will automatically refresh and display the new feeds. these can be used both from forum rss or outside source rss.

So basically each user would get to select their feed of choice. Not sure why it would need to automatically refresh though as the feeds usually don't get renewed more frequently than every 30 minutes or so based on the Time TO Live (TTL) record. So as long as the feed is updated when the cached copy has expired things should be good.

YES, there a CMPS module for this.. it works flawlessly BUT I need the same thing for forumshome - possibly with the option to add multiple feeds.

I ended up getting vBExternal hacked and it works fine now with thread previews / BBCode / HTML parsed out. Quite nice actually.

edit:

just made one, it downloads the rss feed localy (after the page has loaded (ajax style) and only once per day... )

Works in java, can change font, font color, size, background, speed, RSS feed url ...

Also on clicking the link, it directs you to a page on your forum to diplay the desriptions of each title
