admin forum new post blinking image

I was looking for something similar to the hack that adds a blinking image to the private message box when you have a new pm

but i want it to display something that is very noticable when a new post is made in a specific forum...and only display it to usergroups that are allowed to view that forum

not sure where to have it show up at...but i want it to be deadly obvious and annoying as hell

i don't have a picture...but i could make one...what kind should it be? regular picture, jpg, png, gif?, just text with a transparent background?
