MySQL Full-text indexing search method vs. vBulletin search engine method

Can somebody tell me what the pro-/contras are of both methods?

IMHO the MySQL search is quicker, especially for large boards. It also uses less space.

The vb search gets into real trouble on larger boards (hence why the search on this forum is screwed).
