Flood control by user
 

I am in the process of porting my IB forum over to vbulletin. This was something I found very useful as a mod for invisionboard, and I couldn't find anything similar on vb.org for it, so I thought I would have a go at making it as a product. If someone else has made something and I've missed it on search feel free to tell me and I will delete this thread.

The plugin allows you to set a specific flood control [in seconds] for each individual user, for example to stop spammers by slowing down their ability to post, while not annoying the rest of the board

The mod works as a product, but please be aware it is in beta stage and I don't have time to offer support for it. I'm releasing it in case it helps someone else because I've got lots of useful info from vb.org on how to do various things, having never worked with the vbulletin code before a few days back.

I havn't done help files etc. basically because once you install the product the flood control option appears when you edit a member in the admin cp. The default for all users is flood control 0, which disables it.

There is one issue that I am aware of if you have flood control turned on on your board [which I don't], eg. FC for everyone of 60 seconds, and then you set a given user to have 120 second FC. The "try again" number of seconds would be incorrect in this case, because of the position of the hook. I was trying to keep it simple, but this issue doesn't affect me because I don't use FC as standard. If anyone has a bug fix please don't hesitate to contact me

I could see more potential for this mod if you could also set this on usergroups. Specifically the unregistered group. I have a few open forums and sometimes we get spammed real bad. This would pretty much block that if you wanted to expand this mod further.

really i've the same proplem
many of bad guys spammed too much in 30 mins more than 40 post/replay (copy/past)

Would be a bit difficult to use it on the Unregistered usergroup. They are not registered, so have no user record/postcount. No foolproof way to identify by which guest the post is made.

Well, You could set the global flood control to 2 minutes or whatever, then have a mod that reduces the member usergroups to 20-30 seconds. That would work?
