vb.org Archive - Protecting images with a null image layer

Can anyone good with CSS/PHP please offer some advice on an idea? Our members have complained alot about people copying an avatar that they put hours of work into creating. Though it looks like they have made them using MS Paint, we would like to offer them something at least.

What we would like is to put a layer over the image/avatar and place a null image on top the real avatar. Then when the theives right click on the image they only will be able to download the fake/null .gif

I have played with the idea for a couple hours and can't get it to be dynamic over each avatar. I got it to work over the one of them but not on multiple posts. Can anyone please help?
