Use the same database as vB for own CMS?
 

Hi everyone,

I'm developing a site at the moment and want to heavily involve vB in it. I've only done a few PHP/MySQL projects before, and my current vB site is pretty standard. I've not done anything with PHP/MySQL in a few months now.

Anyway - I want a lot of the function of the site to revolve around one user account, the vB one for obvious reasons. As an example, different user levels would also allow for different access to the publishing system, the ability to have their own blogs, and for subscribers access to things. I'd also like to get it so comments appear on articles in my CMS from the user account on vB.

Would I be better off putting my articles, weblog entries, content, etc in the same database as vB, or keeping them in their own 'CMS' database?

Apologies if that's a silly question - would just like to get it right from the start! ;)
