User selectable number of threads shown

I tried searching but didn't have any luck. If this exists I apologize.

My users would like to be able to select how many threads are shown, I know I can do it manually for all users via the CP but some want more and some want less.

If someone could point me to a hack like this, or perhaps make one, we'd love you :)
