vB-Template & Variable: Structure/Hierarchy
Hello everybody,
I use since one year vBulletin and I like it much. Now I want to make a complete new redesign to relaunch our website with new functions. Till today I still don't understand vBulletin certainly, so I hope that we can collect in this thread everything, that could be usefull for many beginner in development. So, I think the following things are many many important, because you spend every time a lot of time with the search engine without a sensible result: a) A general hierarchy of the templates! ----| Which template comes first, which next? ----| In which template you can setting up what..? (obtain to general things) ----| etc. b) Which (global) variables you can use in vBulletin? ----| $var_name --> output ; A complete list would be nice ----| How you can create own global variables? I would be glad if someone is interested in that too, so we can collect those things. I think that are very important things, which are nuisance to everyone of us (I think so...). What do you mean? I would begin, but that's the problem, why I post it :) Who wants make the first step? Greets, Chris |
I suggest you start by turning (a development board) in debug mode. You will get a list of each template used on a page. Then have a look at the sources of those templates.
