[Request] Auto Spammer Mod

I got this Idea when some one spammed my board recently.

Anyone who posts continuously more than 5 or 10 or n posts in a Thread within certain period of time, should be automatically considered as a Spammer.

Subsequently,

1) a Warning PM can go to him automatically
2) a Post can be added below his posts, saying, "You are Warned for Spamming", etc.
3) a User title saying Spammer or how many times spammed
4) an Email or PM to Admin/Moderator reporting the thread
5) Finnally option to ban him for certain number of hours or days.

Is it not a nice way to tackle spammers?

Thanks

Just use the merge posts hack :)

After a few of them got merged they were so annoyed it's never happened to me sense :)

I am afraid you got my point wrongly.

I am talking about Spamming, and how to solve people posting junk messages in the board for the sake of increasing their post quantity.

I don't know why Merging posts coming in between? What can I do merging spam posts??

Do you think Merge posts has special feature for Stopping Spam?

Ooo, I thought you meant posting 10 times in a row on the same thread.

My apologies, I misunderstood what you were after :)

There where some hacks that put a time limit on the number of posts/forum for vB3.0. Not sure if any of them is ported for 3.5.

Not sure whether that would be a good hack. If there is a heated conversation going on legitimate users can certainly create many posts within a certain small period of time, especially if two people argue a point between them.

In my board rules I specifically state that postcount bumping is not tolerated. Those who are found countbumping can be banned. Alternativly you could disable or freeze their postcount.

I guess I am saying that identifying spammers should be an admin/moderator job, because automatic methods of detecting such spam could easily lead to false positives and upset legitimate posters.

What you need is a hack that checks for x number of post, and does the post have a external link, or email.

Simple put if user has less then 15 post or is their first post and their post has a external link or email in the post then put the post in a que to be reviewed by admin or just send warning, etc.

Not to hard to write IMO, but Im new at Vb and am still looking for a good TUT on hooks, etc.
