I'm looking for any tips on portal style website integration for 3.5 info.

My main objective at the moment is to have a simple users online section on my front end. At the moment I'm using a standalone script which counts guests on my frontend but not on my forums. Since the majority of traffic is at my forums, I'd rather show those stats in the section on my homepage.

Also, is there any way to include front end visitors within the forum users online count? Willing to bet it's gonna be a nightmare, but I'm sure if it's possible, somebody here will have the solution.

Links to any related plugins/hacks appreciated.
