vbarcade quick links on front page
This is very amateur, but I am not a coder, just thought someone without much knowledge may find this helpful. I feel this small template modification may increase user registrations since it has the ability to quickly show that you have games on your site.
This is a simple modification, not intended for advanced users as these images are static and not at all randomized, etc. But atleast if someone humors me and clicks install someday I will feel special. :) Also if you see that I'm not showing the correct way, or a proper way to do something here, please let me know so I can correct it in case someone ever does use this. Here's a screenshot: Here's what to do: In your FORUMHOME template, find $navbar. Between $navbar and <!-- main --> add this: Code:
<!-- arcade --> You will have to change the location reference for each of the above icons to the ID that your arcade games are listed under. In other words the above links will bring you to where my games are, but each install may produce a different game ID, do hover your mouse over your game to find out it's unique id. If you think my modification is pointless, sorry lol. |
It looks like a simple table using vBulletin classes.
Otherwise, thanks any way. But you should upload the screenshot as a attachment. Clicked Install |
Very nice mate, the images of the arcade games won't show though, probably something I have done wrong.
EDIT: Problem solved.. you had ../images ... so I had to make it ./ as my forum is in a folder and not in the root folder. Working great btw. |
That is some nice hack!

Thanks so much guys, I felt strange posting something like this, but sometimes simple is ok. :)

Nice little mod. I too had to modify image paths a bit as suggested but worked nicely!

Hi everyone, MioTraGusa has made a '5 random game icons on the front page' template modification which can be found here:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=837268 That's beyond the scope of what I can do, and I think it may be a better solution too. Thanks for installing what I made though. :) Chris |
I'm getting a no permissions error
|
No permissions? All that this modification does is add some html to the template, so I don't see why you would see that message. Are you sure you're not speaking about the 5 random images on the front page?
If you just added the code to the template and are getting this problem afterwards and you didn't before hand, then I would recommend reverting your template and perhaps try the other 5 random arcade images hack. Hope I atleast helped in some way with this message. :squareeyed: |
