Help with a Plugin for User Profile Custom Field

Hello,

I have created a text field that a user can enter in a special code during registration via the User Profile Fields Manager. The field is also visible within the users profile (via User CP).

What I would like to have implement is when a forum member adds or changes the code (text value) in that custom field within their profile (saves the changes) an email sent to a list of email address including the text that was entered in the custom field.

I have been told that I need to create a plugin. I have looked at the general forum help http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/ and cannot seem to find a step by step example of how to create a plugin (including an xml file descriptor for the plugin and how it "hooks" into say the event which saves changes to a forum members profile.

Any ideas?

Cheers

marc

Hello all,

hmmm thats strange - I can see looking at my admin section that there is a section called Add New Plugin that lets you select the "Hook" for example would the "hook" -> profile_updateprofile be the event for my requirements? Then add some basic code like:

1) Get The fields value
2) Send email to someone with that fields value.

if this is the case then how can I get the fields name and how to I get the value stored in that field - I assume I have to call a getter on an object?

Cheers

Marc

Hello all,

Please ignore by posts - I did not look at all the forum help and I must say there is nothing missing from the help at all.

Sorry for wasting peoples time.

I created a plugin, selected the event, got the value and emailed the value to the addresses I required.

The only thing would be is if anyone knows how to grab the super moderators and administrators email address so I don't have to hard code email addresses into the plugin.

Cheers

Marc
