ucash to vbcash AND make vbshop

Okay Ucash and Ushop seem to be dead..

Is there a coder that would be interesting in taking ucash 1.1.1 and turning it into something called vbcash and then making a vbshop for it similar to what ushop did?

A lot of people are sitting waiting for ushop with no announcement from its creator as to if it will ever be released...

A lot of those people would be willing to put up some sort of donation for this.. if this is a project that a good coder would be willing to do I beleive you would be well compensated for your work. The initial compensation would be pretty good I think.

If you are willing to donate post here... if you are willing to code it... post here.

I don't understand why nobody else has attempted to get one of the coders here to do this there are some real good coders here, and a lot of people that want this hack. Maybe asking like this is against the ROC?

romow 11-01-2005 05:19 PM

I'm willing to donate..

Matt does things on his own schuedual as he is the only person working on the mass of the project. Unless templates need updating, I don't have anything to do with it.

evenmonkeys 11-01-2005 09:13 PM

If I knew how to do everything you php'ers do... I'd help. =\

romow 11-02-2005 12:02 AM

I believe people here are trying to pool donation for ucash. Aren't they?

That's too bad...

That's a load of crap. There have been many people on several different sites trying to get information on the status of this project that have offered to pay money (including myself) to support it. If that's not offering help, then what the heck is it?

It's too bad that the developer isn't getting any enjoyment out of working on ushop anymore and won't be updating it...but that's his perrogative. I just don't understand why there was silence for so long. Somebody else could have taken it over a long time ago and had it done by now!

So who's gonna step up and be the hero? I can't code worth a damn, but I can help support it by donation.

ZGeek 11-02-2005 03:03 AM

I'd donate.

evenmonkeys 11-02-2005 04:32 AM

Well this makes me an unhappy camper. =(

When did you guys ever ask for help? As far as anyone knew you guys were in no need of coders and testers or any form of support. To the best of our knwoledge it was simply a large project taking time and that you guys were fully devoted to the project and it could be released at any given time.

You guys offer web hosting over there @ geekydesigns correct? Yet there were members here willing to be paid customers in order to have you guys release ucash and ushop. If you can't be bothered to help potenital paying customers over a hack, I see no reason why I would consider spending my money for your web hosting.

Ironic isn't it.. I post a simple thread saying that it seems that the project has been abandoned and asking to find a coder to take over for it... I try to find a programmer because obviously I don't have the knowledge and skill to do it myself, I also try to find a group of people who would co-op together to pay for the programmer if need be.

Then you fire back at me with what you posted.. and then .. here's the kicker... the original project developer posts on his site that he has abandoned the project.. thus making my original post fully valid.

So.. back to my original post... I am not a good enough programmer to do this I am only a neophyte, so I am attempting to find a programmer that would take the project over and to get people together who would compensate that programmer for his work.

:ermm:

romow 11-02-2005 04:49 PM

I agree Zachery's posting came out of nowhere near the context.
Guess he or she was not following up on the recent threads...

Anyway, if you manage to recruit a programmer (reputable one, hopefully) on ucash/ushop, feel free to let us konw. Whoever the programmer is, he or she should be willing to continue to manage the script (which is hard part).
I'm sure there are lots of people (including me) that are willing to donate money on this project.

Cheers,

Cheers,

I made my post here, then talked to matt and told him if he had no more plans to continue the project he should let people know.

If you know a coder who is capable of taking over please have them contact me or matthew.

GamerJunk.net 11-02-2005 05:38 PM

Zachery, I'm not saying you should take it over but you'd be one of the best to work on it, you have put out some of the best stuff.

Are you working on anything else?

In that case, thanks for contacting him its good to at least finally have the word that he has abandoned it..

fly 11-02-2005 09:57 PM

I can only donate cash, not coding, but am willing to do so.

I've been trying to get in touch with you guys actually...

I'm more than willing to take over the project, I've got my own development server for vB, so you wouldn't have to host it or anything like that, and I've got two other developers who are familiar with PHP and vB working with me already, and they've both said they'd be willing to help out as well...

My AIM screenname is TheDefiantRaiden, email's raiden[at]pigskinheaven[dot]com, and of course there's always PM's here...

ggiersdorf 11-02-2005 10:28 PM

Very sad news, this has runied my day :( My only wish is that he had finished fixing the errors that plagued UCASH before he quite. That way we could have someone start a USHOP using the UCASH.

Sadly MANY users like myself bought Vbulletin because of this mod and Ushop and the stability of Vbulletin itself also :) but looks like that wont happen it could possibly hurt the community as a whole for the time being..

Hell VBulletin should make a cash and Store mod for retail if needed as EVERYONE uses and wants these two mods..

dn lodge 11-02-2005 10:54 PM

Well i am still waiting for the mod, none the less!

Kran 11-02-2005 11:25 PM

If someone taught me how to code, I'd do it... but no one will and most tutorials suck and I have no money.

Also: I have no more excuses, but I'll help any way I can.

evenmonkeys 11-02-2005 11:32 PM

Haha. You can't just be taught how to do what these guys do. It takes years and years of practice. I'm going to school for it.

I want uStore. :(

I know, this is why no one will teach me :p

Lyricsmama 11-02-2005 11:56 PM

Willing to donate $$ as well.. My users are REALLY upset that the store and gifts are gone, that was one of the main attractions on our board... PLEASE i hope someone can do this soon. :(

plot 11-03-2005 12:35 AM

i dont have any money but i would really like to see it here, i nominate zero or revan

The Chief 11-03-2005 01:03 AM

I am willing to donate, I really want these mods working...

evenmonkeys 11-03-2005 01:13 AM

I'd donate in a heartbeat.

RaidenDAWG2 11-03-2005 03:11 PM

Guys, if Matt and Zach are willing to let me, I'm offering to do this for nothing...Lord knows my site would benefit as much from this as anyone else's, so the benefits of finishing it really would be enough in itself.

I don't care. I'm donating. I appreciate people stepping up to help, when certain coders cry about people wanting a deliverable.

romow 11-03-2005 03:36 PM

Very good news!
hopefully Zachery and others can help you jumpstart...
Please keep us updated.

I cannot agree with you more. Part of reason people like vB has been ucash/ushop mods. Too bad things got this worse...

Just noticed this thread, I had planned to start coding on local host, I would be curious the time frame so I know which option to go with.

Myself I could have it going in week about, so if you can do it sooner then best option is to let you.

If you can have it done in a week, more power to ya man. In that case, I'd be more than happy to help ya flush out bugs or whatever else you might need help with.

vBintense 11-03-2005 04:36 PM

Ya this week is sort of empty so I have plenty of time right now.

Snake 11-03-2005 04:52 PM

Hey I have a little suggestion. How about merging both uCash & uShop and name it as uStore? Both hacks will be formed into ONE hack. :)

evenmonkeys 11-03-2005 05:22 PM

I'd be willing to beta test on my localhost as well. Just let me know and I'll help any way I can.

tnguy3n 11-03-2005 05:33 PM

Something can be merged into my Credit System project. :D

romow 11-03-2005 06:29 PM

Now I see some positive developments interms of ucash/ushop or ustore, whatever it will be called.. Hopefully we see something come out soon which we can test..

Lottis 11-03-2005 06:51 PM

This was good news. :)

jugo 11-03-2005 07:14 PM

I just love it when the community comes together for the good of the whole.

This is a prime example of the comraderie that exists amonst vB Users!! Good going guys!!
