Need news mod (non-vb)

I'm looking for a script that i can let my client enter his own news in, and the subjects be displayed on the home page, and the rest of it be displayed on the news page.

something he can enter in, edit, save, delete with out me having to always get in his server.

anyone know of anything FREE? :)

TIA
(i hope its ok to talk about non VB stuff in this forum)

thats where i first went, i wasn't sure if anyone else had any experience with anything else, that they could say "use this one... XXXX... its really good and will do exactly what you want"

I use CutePHP for one of my smaller sites...

Here's the demo: http://www.mhssdrama.com/

And here's a link: http://www.cutephp.com/

i'm looking for something very simple and basic, dont even want to use a database.

You have to have a database of some sort to have a news system.
Otherwise nothing will be saved.

That doesn't use a database, it uses a file system. And it is really simple. :)

You just do an include statment and it brings up all the news. All that the other stuff on the demo site is custom stuff.

thats what i was thinking, but the .net developer i'm working with wants it all in .net and i haven't studied that yet.... we'll see.

i'll check into it Danny, thanks!

i'm going to test cutenews now.

Danny, cutenews is awesome! But i can't get it to display just exactly how i want it to. and i haven't even tried implementing it into my site yet.

I want it to display with:

Title:
Some of the news:
a link to read the whole story...

but i'm having trouble displaying that... any ideas?

and i also dont want people to be able to reply back to the news, how do i turn that off?

In the add news form. Enter the title for title. Some of the news for short story, and then all of the news for full news. If you want to take out comments you can remove the link out of the template.

Options -> Edit Templates -> Remove instances of [com-link]comments ({comments-num})[/com-link] from every template.

You can further edit the template to make it look how you want.

thanks man, lifesaver!

if you click on "read more" for the full story, how can i make it goto a seperate page that is just news articles full length?

cause when you click its wanting to load the article inside that table and its messing up the width of the whole site!

Hm...

Options -> System Configuration -> Show Full Article in Pop-UP - > Set to Yes -> Settings for Full Story PopUp -> Edit to fit with template.

That's the only solution I can think of atm.
