Geek Gallery Popup 4.0

From the makers of lint and fuzz come the oh-so-popular-cant-live-with-out Mack that transformed the lives of all whom beheld it.

Yes, this is: Geek Gallery Popup for vBa and PhotoPost*

Gpop will allow your users to easily insert pictures from their gallery into their posts and private messages.

New features include:
Browse by category
Insert aligned images

Installation difficulty: About as hard as a sneeze
File edits: 0
Plugins: 0
template edits: 1

Known issues:
If the editor isnt selected, and you click a pic... it inserts the freaking pic in the page instead of the editor. Odd stuff. Im sure ill figure that out shortly.

*PhotoPost support is built in however please note that I dont have PP any longer and so I cant really test for it. Therefore, if you are a PP user, let me know if it works ;)

Please click install if you install it.

Please note there is 1 or two minor pagination issues that I am currently sorting out. Nothing too major though.

Hey Geek,

Bit of a problem here. When I click open, I get this error:

Warning: chdir(): No such file or directory (errno 2) in /geek-gallery-popup.php on line 196

Warning: main(gallery_global.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /geek-gallery-popup.php on line 197

What do you have for your Gallery folder setting?

gallery

My gallery installation is not within my forum root. It is on site root.

Snake 10-22-2005 11:40 AM

Thanks fo this.

lazytown 10-22-2005 12:55 PM

First: thanks so much for putting this up!

I'm having some problems. I believe this script assumes the gallery is located within the forum folder, but that isn't always the case... For example, in my
vba gallery is at: http://site.com/pictures
forum is at http://site.com/forum

I'm getting errors on line 202 and 203.

Thanks
-V

lazytown 10-22-2005 01:02 PM

I had to use "../pictures" as the gallery folder setting.

Now the window pops up without errors and shows the pictures, but when I click them they do not insert into the post (in WYSIWYG editor). In the simple editor, when I click a picture it inserts "https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/" without any content.

OK I had to revert a couple of geek templates (since the old ones were still there). It seems to work for the standard editor, but when I click an image in the popup for the WYSIWYG editor, nothing happens.

EDIT: HAD to update more templates... Now it all seems to work!
THANKS!

Great Geek! We're working on our upgrade to vB 3.5 so this comes at the right time for us. :D

Hi,

What templates did you revert?

agiacosa 10-22-2005 03:30 PM

I have the pop up working but in the WYSIWYG editor using IE, the photos pop in to the top of the template (page) and not in the post area.

martinchan 10-22-2005 04:55 PM

Apparently, there are some script errors in the .php files if you are using Photopost. I got it corrected and working beautifully at my site.

Attached is the file I corrected.

Ill make some adjustments for different gallery locations tomorrow.

Martinchan. Thanks for that. As I dont have PP anymore, I couldnt test it and I didnt want to totally drop support for it.

Ill merge your changes into the release tomorrow.

Thanks again guys.

And please click install if you installed it ;)

PennylessZ28 10-23-2005 04:12 AM

Is this working for folks using WYSIWYG editor in 3.5?

Jason McConnell 10-23-2005 02:06 PM

Hey Geek... quick question. For the file location specification in vB Options, do you specify the url to those folders or the paths to those folders?

FleaBag 10-23-2005 03:28 PM

I too have been awaiting this for 3.5. Nice on Sam! :)

ricker 10-24-2005 02:39 AM

Thanks for the release! The only trouble I'm having is that in the popup, if I switch pages, I get a 404 error (not found). Any ideas?

Also, the link to "subscriptions" is wrong, it should be "payments.php" in 3.5.0

sensimilla 10-24-2005 06:08 AM

hack of the month in my opinion :) thanks

I was using previous verion and I was waiting for that one!

thanks again

Nice hack idea.

I think I've set it up right:
../gallery for the "Gallery folder" setting because my gallery is outside the forum dir
/files for the "Data Folder" setting.

The strange thing is the page keeps loading and eventually times out?
Any help?

Edit: It's vba by the way :)

Thanks,
Mat

OMG, this rocks. The www.MakeupTalk.com users are peeing themselves

GoTTi 10-24-2005 06:29 PM

what???????????

The Geek 10-24-2005 09:42 PM

Hey guys, like a dumb butt I didnt put in paths for galleries outside of the forum directory. Ill get it in.. Im just really swamped (ill try to get it in tomorrow night).

Your settings are adjusted through vb options in your admincp... not via file editing.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Nutz 10-24-2005 10:01 PM

OK thanks for the update geek :)

Thanks,
Mat

b6gm6n 10-24-2005 10:25 PM

is this in reference to the getting a 404 error when trying to view page 2, 3 etc? (just checking).

Most likely the reason for it. Just right click on the next page link and view properties to see where its trying to go to.

Getting this error...
Code:

Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #2 is not an array in \gallery\gallery_global.php on line 27
I recall getting this a while ago, but can't remember how to kill it.

Thanks,

Bill
