Most ever Members & Guests

This modification is no longer available or supported.

Warning: Do not run this vb 3.5 version on a vb 3.6 forum.

Adds a split 'most ever' members & guests count to the active users dsiplay.

Just download the product XML file and import using the Product Manager.

Note: Obviously it will only count from the time you install it, neither it nor I can see backwards in time.

History:

v2.02 : First Release.
v2.03 : Changed logic of IF statement.
v2.04 : Minor changes, no update necessary.

Quite nice, although a little unneccessary IMO. :)

Oblivion Knight 10-20-2005 06:50 PM

Schweet, thank you for releasing this.! :D

PM me your paypal address so that I can send you some beer money, as I said I would.

It can be used as an addon to the "Show Members Online Today" mod (with a bit of editing).. ;)

Very few hacks are "neccessary" ;)

Bounce 10-20-2005 07:02 PM

Nice one, looks a bit weird thou as my top online users was 747.

I take it it starts from the moment you install...

nice thou

One small suggestion would be to change your two "<=" conditions to just "<". Since essentially, the 'record' isn't being beaten and is just equalled this would save on resources for smaller boards because updating the datastore runs an additional query..

Could you make this so that spiders are excluded?

Paul M 10-21-2005 03:04 PM

Sorry, I have no plans to do that.

Has this been done? Sorry, I'm very new to the hacking scene and my head spins when I try to look at the code for myself :ermm:

You don't need to do it, there is a seperate product to do it, linked in the post OBK replied to.

No.

Since he edited his post rather than post a new reply, I didn't see it until now. It's a very minor thing that no one will ever really notice (it's how the main vb code works ;)) - however, I will change it, and upload v2.03 later (in fact, I'll reverse the whole logic of that IF, since IMO it's backwads atm).

Oblivion Knight 10-23-2005 12:59 PM

Especially because I'm a dumbass and thought that this plugin did something it doesn't.

GREAT! Thanks Paul :D

bspiller82 11-13-2005 11:24 AM

Is there a way to add the text "The most ever members online was 8, 11-06-2005 at 07:17 PM. The most ever guests online was 20, 11-07-2005 at 07:24 AM." after the default text "Most users ever online was 21, 11-08-2005 at 08:25 PM."? I don't like how it shows on the bottom under the users.

Paul M 11-13-2005 12:52 PM

You would need to edit the plugin code to do that. It would be a rather long line .....

Boofo 11-13-2005 03:49 PM

Paul, would there be a way to get this to count spiders, too? ;)

Not without extra code, and a way to split out spiders, vb does not seperate them from other guests.

nice work, thx :)

firstrebel 12-30-2005 03:34 PM

How can the two stats be on two separate lines instead of the one, it would look tidier I think.

*clicks install*

I disagree, but if you want to do it, edit the plugin code.

Change ;

PHP Code:

$activeusers $activeusers."<br />".$maxmemberstext." ".$maxgueststext

To ;

PHP Code:

$activeusers .= "<br />".$maxmemberstext."<br />".$maxgueststext

vietkieu_cz 12-31-2005 05:24 PM

Hi Paul, your mod is very good

Paul M 12-31-2005 11:38 PM

There is a seperate hack for that.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...threadid=98887

djlotus 01-01-2006 02:43 PM

I love this little hack. Thanks Paul.

Brandon Sheley 03-10-2006 02:29 AM

how can i change this from
The most ever members online was 1, Today at 10:26 PM. The most ever guests online was 3, Today at 10:26 PM.

to

The most ever members online was 1, Today at 10:26 PM.
The most ever guests online was 3, Today at 10:26 PM.

where do i look to edit ?
thx

Paul M 03-10-2006 03:55 AM

You will need to edit the plugin ;

Change;

PHP Code:

$activeusers $activeusers."<br />".$maxmemberstext." ".$maxgueststext

to

PHP Code:

$activeusers $activeusers."<br />".$maxmemberstext."<br />".$maxgueststext

Brandon Sheley 03-10-2006 03:57 AM

perfect, and a quick reply :)

thank you very much

AndyP 05-30-2006 01:33 AM

Thanks for the mod, Paul M.

For me the most users online stat was a bit useless and I'd much prefer to know the most members online. Is there no way to backdate it?

Paul M 05-30-2006 11:08 AM

Not unless you build a time machine. :)

AndyP 05-31-2006 04:06 AM

I did see your initial comments, but I wasn't sure if the database kept track of it or not, as it always displays the current members and guests.

Thanks.

A word of warning - if you upgrade your forum to vb 3.6 then disable this modification before you upgrade, and then upgrade it to the 3.6 version after you have finished, then re-enable it - running this 3.5 version on a 3.6 forum can break your most users/visitors etc statistics.

And if we didn't follow this advise ... meaning we didn't see this till now after upgrading how would we go about fixing it?
