Logician's Webtemplates for vB 3.5.0

I know you are busy but still... :devious: any expected date of release. Thanks

Logician 10-07-2005 03:34 PM

2-3 weeks with no promises

bulbasnore 11-03-2005 05:16 AM

No promises is fine.

What a wonderful system.

You'll need to get an account, but I hope some time you'll come see what I've done with your webtemplates on our site http://pokegym.net ... just click on the Price Guide link at the top of any page. We have over 3000 records in two databases searchable by the members. Thank you!

Neutral Singh 11-03-2005 05:25 AM

Waiting Waiting Waiting !!! :)

Logician 11-05-2005 10:04 AM

I didn't forget about it, I'm on it.

Work Update:

I've finished most of the coding and I'm about to finalize the project. I'm now testing it, fixing bugs, cleaning up the code and writing help documents, installation guide etc. So there is still some time for the final release but we are very close to it.

If you have used this hack in vbulletin 3.0.x and now waiting for 3.5.0 version, can you please post here and let me know whether you have already ported your board for 3.5.0 or are you still on 3.0.x until I release the hack?

Thanks,

Differences Between 3.0.x Version and 3.5.0 Version.

? Page Security Settings are now simpler. You don?t have to enter userids or usergroupids anymore. Instead you can directly enter disallowed usernames and check disallowed usergroups in a more friendly interface.

? Same simplicity applies to ?WebTemplate Editors? and ?Logged Usergroups/Usernames? Sections.

? ?Is Private? per Webtemplate option is removed as it was redundant. WebTemplates Hack has now ?is draft? option and banned usergroups/usernames options for your page security needs.

? Meta Keywords and Meta Description per WebTemplate is added for better search engine optimization.

? ?Download WebTemplate/Webquery as a text file? option is removed and replaced with ?Import / Export WebTemplates as a XML? file. This will help you to save your WebTemplates in a better supported format and hack users can very easily share eachothers WebTemplates by import feature.

? ?Logician Conditional Syntax? is no more supported in this version of the WebTemplates. Instead you can use vb3 conditional syntax for your conditional needs. That is:
<if condition = ?????..?>?????<else />?????.</if>

? User friendly URL support is added. So instead of calling your WebTemplates as:
http://www.yoururl.com/yourforum/view.php?pg=webtemplatename
You can now ALSO call it as:
http://www.yoururl.com/yourforum/view_webtemplatename.htm

Please note this feature is experimental, and not fully supported by me at this time. I tested it and it works for me but it may not work for you due to your server settings, webserver program, .htaccess settings etc.

? ?Outside variables? are removed from the hack as it is confusing for novice users and redundant for expert users. Someone who needs to pass outside variables to the webtemplate can use PHPINCLUDE field of webtemplate to clean and process variables in the vbulletin way. Eg.

$vbulletin->input->clean_array_gpc('r', array(
'my_variable_1' => TYPE_STR,
'my_variable_2' => TYPE_INT,
));

Hi Logician. Subscribed and waiting for the release. The changes look promising.

ZGeek 11-19-2005 11:09 PM

I'm waiting for this hack. I have two boards, one on 3.5.1 without the templates and the other on 3.0.7 with the older hack. I'm planning to use this hack on both boards when available as it's an extremely useful hack.

carpefile 11-19-2005 11:18 PM

I'm waiting on three things to upgrade to 3.5. Petz, Arcade, and Web Templates.
The first 2 are for my members, but Web Templates is all me baby. This is one of the most useful hacks I've ever had the pleasure of using. Thanx Logician. :)

Parker Clack 11-20-2005 11:22 AM

Looks great. I am looking forward to the release.

Parker

Yes. I've done the biggest chunk of work in WebTemplates and need to wait for 3.5 version.

It will be an extension, no?

Also, the part about external variables is one I'll have to relearn. Our current price guide is all about external variables. I hope that the include will be per-page and not global as in vBulletin?

bhxtyrant 11-23-2005 02:34 AM

This may be a dumb question but what exactly is webtemplates? :)

Yes it will be perpage as it was before. All you need to do is to add the snippet I quoted above to your phpinclude field of your webtemplate. I believe using

$_GET[variablename]
$_POST[variablename]

for your outside variables should also work.

It is Content Management System for vbulletin. You can find its link in my profile.

Subscribed and waiting *desperatly* for release

winky6 11-24-2005 12:07 AM

I upgraded to 3.5 just after reading you were workin on this.

I can't wait.

Logician 11-24-2005 05:14 AM

I'd be glad if some experienced users install the hack and give me some feedback about the new version. If you are interested, please provide me with your email address and I'll be sending you the hack in a few days. Just one kindly request : Please do not ask, if you are not going to install it or send me feedback. ^^

Obviously you need to have a 3.5.x board (real board or a test board) to test the 3.5.x version. :)

Thanks!

Ps. New version coded as a plugging with phrase support (for user interfaces) and can be installed/uninstalled to your board very easily without modifying any vbulletin .PHP files.

outlaw621 11-25-2005 03:07 PM

Logician,
Current results for Beta Test on VB 3.5.1 upgraded board.

1-Installed fine
2-Uninstalled fine
3-Export and Import of old 3.0.x webtemplates worked very well
4-Editing interface in ACP working well

I have only noticed one problem so far. When you edit a webtemplate and save the changes, you get the following error message:
Quote:

Warning: strtotime() [function.strtotime]: Called with an empty time parameter. in /admincp/wt_wt.php on line 396

Warning: strtotime() [function.strtotime]: Called with an empty time parameter. in /admincp/wt_wt.php on line 397
The changes still take effect despite the above error message.

Logician,
I received your email. The new wt_wt.php file fixed the above error I reported. Everything seems to be working correctly now.

Logician 11-30-2005 05:10 PM

Project Update:

I've finished coding the hack, tested it on my own, prepared the help documents etc. so it is ready for the release. ATM. I'm just testing it in different boards to make it bug free in all enviroments. I've sent the hack to people who requested it and waiting for feedback from them (some already returned to me). I also need to write hack thread info, FAQ etc. so I believe I'll release it officially in 10-15 days.

If you are in hurry and want to have it now, PM your email address to me and I'll send you the hack together with the instructions.

outlaw621 11-30-2005 05:18 PM

Logician,
All updates have been applied and everything seems to be working correctly. I have not seen any new errors.

Alfa1 12-12-2005 07:32 PM

What is the status now? I can't wait to try this out. Many thanks in advance!

Logician 12-13-2005 06:08 AM

It should be released till (during) this weekend

Spinball 12-13-2005 09:46 PM

Excellent timing. I was pretty much forced to upgrade to 3.5 today and Webtemplates is an important element of our forums. I use it for the rules, about us, advertising information and more. Happy to test this for you if you need testers.
Waiting with baited breath.

simsimt 12-15-2005 10:04 PM

Excellent timing for me too. I've recently purchased my vB license, so Webtemplates would be very helpful to my board.

Thanks Logician, just keep up the good work.

Logician 12-16-2005 02:30 PM

3.5 version released:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=103076

Thanks for your patience and also thanks to all beta testers who helped me to test it in the development.
