ultimate car based mod

someone needs to make some sort of mod thats like a cardomain type thing. Like vbgarage with alot more options. Like timeslip database, gallery (maybe integrate vbadvanced gallery?) Place where they car list their mods, etc.
Basically something to integrate all of these into a nice little mini site type thing within vbulletin for each member. (like amy's user page thing)

Anybody interested in this sort of hack?

PennylessZ28 10-03-2005 03:27 AM

I am working on a add-on for vbgallery that will do that.

EvilLS1 won't be upgrading his hacks, and he is the one that created all that you named.

I am working on an add-on for gallery that will allow users to create garages and list all that information.

I need something like this too.
I wouldn't mind making a donation as long as it was going to be around for awhile.

arurcard 10-09-2005 07:39 PM

same

PennylessZ28 10-09-2005 07:58 PM

Unknown ETA, I have alot of projects. I am running two car sites, about too add 3 new VB Licenses and starting another site that is code intestive as there are no hacks that I need.

Could be upwards a to a month. It will most diffently use vbadvanced gallery though.

MrMister 10-10-2005 07:38 PM

Sounds awesome, i'm down to try it out if you want to let me :)

PennylessZ28 10-10-2005 09:08 PM

I tried a straight out port of vbgarage but had no luck without making some of my own hooks, and secondly vb handles a few things differently so vbgarage itself would also have to change how it was coded.

SilentNoise 11-02-2005 07:38 PM

That'd be great if you could get it done and were willing to share.

Keep me updated :P

agreed!

Grant Sherwood 11-19-2005 09:42 PM

I agree. I wish i would have done the research before i updated or i wouldn't have.. I loved the timeslip database and vbgarage..

anyone know why he won't be upgrading? i mean won't he need to use them on his site when he upgrades?

hotwheels 11-20-2005 05:34 AM

Check this out: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...0&page=2&pp=15 I think this may be what you are somewhat looking for.

Sidewindr 01-03-2006 02:52 AM

I too am interested in this and would put $$$ towards it.

A fully featured mod with the ability to put top times on the front page (vb advanced) would be the ultimate!!

hotwheels: that's a v3.0 mod you linked to :)

hotwheels 01-03-2006 03:18 AM

sorry man, you are right.............i was trying to point towards vbpicgallery. I did have to pay for the software, but it was worth it. It took all the pic's from my vbgarage and carried them over........it look's really good.

let me see if this link will work for ya. http://www.insanemustangs.com/forums/vbpicgallery.php? The only thing i haven't really been able to get going yet, is the timeslip.......getting closer.

Just my humble opinion, but noppid's vbpicgallery is worth the 20 bucks.

Got the timeslip database working to............heck yea.

http://www.insanemustangs.com/forums/timeslips.php?

k, i got permission to share the file, so here it is:

What i had to do to get it to work: First i uploaded the file into my Forums root folder.

Then i had to go to my admincp, style & templates. I went to the style that is currently my active site. I then had to make 5 new templates, getvehicleinfo, modifytimeslip, timeslips, timeslipsbit, and timeslips_customfields.

If your site when you upgraded, pulled these files along with the upgrade, you will be fine. If it didn't, you will need to import those file and make new templates. If i get some time here in just a little bit, i will try to zip up my template's and share.........

later, doug (hotwheels of insanemustangs.com)

jaybquick 01-04-2006 11:02 PM

Any progress?

I want the full install for 3.5 also. Thanks

hotwheels 01-05-2006 01:53 AM

It's not my hack, but i will see what i can do about getting a full install..........

Right now, the only thing out is the upgrade for those that had this mod on the older software....

Sidewindr 01-05-2006 03:10 AM

The other options/hacks for uloading slips etc. won't work tho as they were hacks to the old php .. or will they work still ??

I'll give it a go :D But I dare say the users won't be able to update their timeslip info and I had it showing everyone as a 9.999 1/4 mile as well which was odd.

Will have to back it all out tho once there is a proper plugin for it tho :ermm:

Top effort none the less .. if I can get it working I'll pop back with some more details/info .. great stuff hotwheels :D

### UPDATE ####

Hrm no go .. I had completley removed all traces of the Timeslip database a week or so ago so now I really cannot see how to re-install it. The php files I need to edit are too different to the old 3.0 files to find where the deits need to be made :(

Damn my users really miss the timeslip database :/

MustangLisa 01-15-2006 11:37 PM

I'm definitely interested in a CarDomain type thing and would pay for it, too.

I have seen something like your talking about at www.fordcustoms.com

MatG 01-25-2006 04:32 AM

also very interested and prepared to donate ;)

Protonus 01-26-2006 03:33 PM

Our forum at http://www.roclife.org would really like this too. I had no idea the Garage hack wasn't out for 3.5.. that's horrid.

Jenkins 02-21-2006 03:18 AM

I also would be willing to donate. http://www.okgmp.com

I'd love something like this too for my forum - htp://thecarforum.net

I used to run a registry for Corvairs that was programmed in asp, one of the things I didn't like was not having the registry integrated with the forum. I started developing a new registry and my goal was to fully integrate it with vBulletin. After looking around, I found there wasn't anything out there that met what I was looking for in a registry. My #1 goal was to make the car vs. the user the main focus when browsing. I've attached a couple of screen shots of what I've come up with so far. I'm not an expert programmer, and this will probably take me quite a while to finish, but I will share it with the community when it is finished if people are interested.

Some additional things I want to incorporate will be attachments for each car and having all cars that a user has registered listed in a their profile.

Zachariah 05-23-2006 04:02 AM

Hello,
Linking all people talking of this subject :) so we are all on the same page.

Personally I would like to see the following...

- multiple timeslip entries for users with more than one car and corresponding vehile details.
- Ability to include a picture of the car maybe.
- All the other features of the old timeslip hack by EvilLS1

off the top of my head.

wottech 06-15-2006 02:44 AM

What I would really like to see is a port of the Fusion Scripts Garage Module (http://www.fusionscripts.com/products/garage_module/)

I know its been done before by someone because both Dodge Talk (http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/garage.php) and Ford Forums (http://www.fordforums.com/garage/) are running it.

We (www.60degreev6.com) used to be running it on our old phpBB setup and all of the users loved it. Going from that to the vBGarage is a let down (no offense to the coders)...

Couldn't agree more! I used to use this when I ran IBP and it was very useful! The conversions on the Ford and Dodge sites looks equally as good - wonder who did them?

wottech 09-13-2006 03:32 AM

Had to bring up the old thread... It seems people are more interested in the timeslip database than the whole garage thing. So since the IBP script is free and I have access to the phpBB script, I just started from scratch and looking at the 2 scripts and started writing one myself for vB.

Unfortunately, I lack time right now to work on it much, so its not very far at all. And I'm currently making it site specific just to easy the coding. Once I get it done (or if I ever get it done?) I'd be willing to let one of the more experienced vB coders look at it and make it more of a vB hack for others to use.

How about something like Hot or NOT but to rate cars in a sweet looking hack, better organized. a seperate forum or something...

Is that possible????

I actually bought the software that "hot or not" runs off of, it's called i-rater. I was going to make a sub domain called "rate my ride" on our forums. but I've had trouble getting the software to work, but then again I'm not too good with php/mysql.

oly51 01-31-2007 11:45 PM

Dredging up this thread to see if anyone made any progress with a vB based car registry mod?

jayunsplanet 05-02-2007 10:54 PM

Cmon please!!!!
