Show Gender In Postbit
This is nice and easy to install and simply shows a small icon next to the online status indicator to show the gender of the user.
The ZIP contains everything you need. There are two sets of images so you can choose your favorite. I have circled the icons in the screenshot to enable you to see exactly where they are placed. PLEASE NOTE: As mentioned in the instructions, the names of the images are case sensitive and so MUST be named exactly as you have defined them in the profile field. Please click install if you have installed this. Update 1.03: Added Memberlist images. Added instructions for non-standard languages. To upgrade download the upgrade 1.03 zip and follow instructions. Update 1.02: Fixed an error in the code. Update 1.01: Added image for undisclosed and changed instructions slighty to reflect this. To update download the 1.01 upgrade zip. Update: I have added optional instructions to add Gender: before the image Important information regarding support - 20/04/06 Due to time constraints and the amount of things that are being planned for future modifications, priority support will now be provided here. Support provided in this thread will be on an as and when basis. |
anyway to add this under "rep power" on post bit legacy
and say Gender next to it and the the chosen icon |
Sure,
FIND Code:
<if condition="$show['reputation']"><div><if condition="$show['reppower']">$vbphrase[reppower]: $post[reppower]</if>$post[reputationdisplay]</div></if> Code:
<if condition="$post[fieldx]">$vbphrase[gender] <img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/$post[fieldx].gif" alt="$post[fieldx]" /></if> Type: global Varname: gender Text: Gender: Remember to change [fieldx] as applicable for your site. |
doesnt seem to work
see http://www.oh-twadi.com/forum/showth...201#post424201 andhow do i remove from next of the username |
heres code of my template
PHP Code:
|
Sorry, my bad. I didn't close a [ code] tage properly.
Remove the [ code] from your template. (without the space obviously) To remove it from next to the username just revert that first change. Find the Replace with bit and replace it with the Find bit so it goes back to normal. I'd look on your site but apparently I'm banned??? I've never been before in my life so it's a bit of a mystery that. |
when i remove the [code] the gender doesnt show at all
and about been banned i realy dont have a clue |
Can you post a copy of your postbit or postbit legacy template (whichever is appropraite) and details of the field number being used. Also if you could confirm which vB version you are running. I'll test your code on my localhost on the appropraite version and see where the problem lies.
|
field for gender mod is field10
running 3.0.7 postbit legacy PHP Code:
|
Ok, I've checked this on 3.0.7 on localhost and made only two minor changes.
Use this as your postbit_legacy instead Code:
<!-- post #$post[postid] --> |
Will this work on 3.5
|
Yes. It works on anything from 3.0.0 beta to 3.5.0 Gold

done thanx |
How would you get this to work on say... WOL?
I mean you can see (esp sites I have set up) photos of the user to know they are male or female. WOL would be awsome because you can not tell at times by the name. |
I'll look into that and see about an update with it in.

The reason is that I run a greek forum so I would like the profile fields to have greek terms for "male" and "female". But most browsers don't support greek filenames so I can't name the files with greek too. currently I am having english in the profile fields but I would like to have greek as having a mix of greek and english is very "unprofessional". :( I tried to do it myself but didn't work... :( Any ideas? Thanks in advance :) |
Loukrhtia, I've responded to this in the thread for the 3.5.0 version. I am still looking into it.
Apologies to everyone for no updates for a couple of days, I've been ill so not been online. I'm back now and trying to catch up with everything in my inbox, so I'll be working on the update in the next few days. |
Wooops! this is the 3.0.x forum!!! Sorry!!!!
/me blushes |
I was curious how to do this with WOL... the user[fieldx] and userinfo[fieldx] doesnt work so... I guess you have to hack...
need that for WOL more... |
I'm working on some upgrades to this. Hopefully they will be being released later this week. It should include memberlist and WOL images.
|
I seem to get this error when editing the postbit :(
The following error occurred when attempting to evaluate this template: Code:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /includes/adminfunctions_template.php(3098) : eval()'d code on line 28 |
Did you follow the instructions exactly?
|
Installed. Thanks a lot. :)
|

Put undisclosed as the first option then set it to use the first option as default.
