Looking for hosting suggestions

Hi all. I'm looking to move web host. I've been with the guys I'm with at the moment for around 3 years now, and they're very good, but I'm starting to out grow them, and what they can realisticly offer me, so I'm looking to move somewhere else.

Let me explain a bit about what I need. I'm a website developer (duh ;)), and as part of the price for the sites I build, I throw in a little bit extra, and give them "free" hosting for a year.

Because of this set-up, I've got a reseller account with my current hosts. They've bulk sold me X amount of space and bandwidth, which I can then assign among the accounts I host. Each account I set-up has it's own login (so the customer can go in and change things if they want to), and can host multipule domain names, etc.. This is all controlled by H-Sphere.

What I'm looking for, in a future host, is pretty much the same thing, but with more space and bandwidth, at a competative price, and more *support* (i.e., I want to know that if I have a problem, I can message someone/send an email/talk to someone on the phone - and have it fixed).

So, can anyone personally recomend a host?

(PS, the idea of going dedicated has crossed my mind, and is something I'm keen on trying, the only problem is that I'm no good at server admin, etc.. and most dedicated server hosts just leave-you-to-it. If there is such as thing as a 'managed' dedicated server, that can do all I've said above (allow me to assign people account, with their own login details to a control panel, with access to multipule domain names, etc..), as well as provide support for any problems I might get, then that would be great)

I'm hosted with ASmallOrange, although I don't use their dedicated server service, I do know that they are managed. Here's the page for more information.

http://www.ev1servers.net/ Also very good (like many others) and they also offer high end systems and custom configurations.

Thank you for the suggestions. I see a lot of these hosts are in the US, while I don't mind this too much, i'd be interested in seeing if anyone can make any suggestions of companies based in the UK.

Thank you.

Hey all.. I too am looking for a hosting company... I am currently with www.1and1.com and seems like at the end of the month we are always killing our limits and going down!

We are not a BIG network by any means, but it too seems like we have grown out of our current server.

I guess if I offer up some stats then maybe this would help with the suggestions.

VB forum running CMS for our sites. We do have a coppermine gallery that we are moving over to the VB Gallery script once we get a new server.

Forum Stats:
330,000 Posts
25,000 Members
300 Average online at once (we need this to allow for much more)

Gallery Stats:
70,000 images and growing

Server Stats
Intel Pentium 4
3.06 GHz Hyper-Threaded or higher
2,048 MB DDR RAM
120 GB IDE hard drive
500 Bandwidth

We are averaging about 450 - 500 GB of bandwidth per month. The problem I am having is chosing the RIGHT hosting company for our network. I see so many VB forums that have a HUGE database with over a millon posts and way more member online at one time that never seem to have a problem with their server. And I would really love that for our network. Of course I dont want to be paying an arm, leg and right nut for it!

Thanks for the suggestions

http://www.site5.com - It's quite affordable, fast, offers reselling accounts, has great support, and it's what I use. I highly recommend them.

The best place to look for hosting and experiences from others is WebHostingTalk, have a look there.

Just incase you did not know the link.

By the way, hostrocket has great support. I've called them at about 11'o clock ad night to ask them a qurstion and they always have an answer. Their phone support is great, email, etc. They will ALWAYS get back to you... guaranteed.

I use HostGator and I've been very happy with their service so far - Support is very fast and I haven't had any downtime since I switched to them a little over a month ago.
