Steel Red Style 3.5.3

Steel Red - Like a Fire Engine!

Style Name: Steel Red for vB 3.5
Style Version: 3.5.3

Updated - Uses a Product. Uninstall your existing plugins before installing the Product.

Features:
  • Forum Status Icons Horizontal
  • Rounded top and bottom corners
  • Easily configured Javascript counter displaying time since forum launch on Forum Home
  • Greeting conditional on day of week and time of day
  • Custom Statusicon, Icons, Buttons and several misc images
  • Some SEO elements - Navbar tweaked for better keyword density.
  • Forum/Thread name in table at top of page in FORUMDISPLAY and SHOWTHREAD
  • Start new Thread/View New Posts buttons in Forumbits (Forumhome and Forumdisplay)

This is the 1.0 Release of the Steel series in Red - as requested by robertwo.

Customised statusicon, buttons/misc and gradients folders included.

To install:Upload /steelred/ folder to your /forums/images/ directory.

If you want to use the Steel Icons, overwrite your existing /images/icons directory with the included ones.

Import the xml file in your Style Manager.

Import the plugin file in your Plugin manager.

Edit the forumid of the top of forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost to that of your topmost forum.

If you are running vBadvanced, add $nzbgreeting and $nzbgreeting2 to the Globalized Variables section of the vBA Admin CP area.

***Additional Instructions***

To change the 'Launch date' ticker on Forum Home, look in the FORUMHOME template, near the bottom. There is a start date field. :)

To change the greetings that appear in the navbar, have a look in your php_include_start template.

To have the Forum images show up for selected forums, go into your forumhome_forumbit_level*_post templates (both level1 and level2) and look for the condtitional that reads:

PHP Code:

<if condition="in_array($forum['forumid'], array(2, 3)"

Change these ids to the ones you want to use.

Further on in the same template is this conditional:

PHP Code:

<if condition="!in_array($bbuserinfo[usergroupid], array(1,3,4,8))"

The array contains those Usergroup ids that we do NOT want to see the Start New Thread button.

Enjoy!

Demo: here.

Oh, and it's XHTML Compliant and CSS Compliant https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2010/10/30.jpg https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2010/01/137.jpg

(If you want support, you better have clicked INSTALL...I *can* see this you know.)

Excellent addition to my collection of Steel skins. Any idea why the navbar looks as attached?

Because I am an idiot. :)

*edit* The vbmenu_control css style is to the /steel/ path rather than /steelred/ .. on the testbed, that gradient image doesnt exist anyway, so it just takes the red colour. Sorry about that bug.

Look at your css styles - vbmenu_control .. change the path to /steelred/. :)

(.zip updated)

VaaKo 09-23-2005 03:52 PM

is this style going on VB 3.5 Gold?

Ha ha, I figured you'd probably been staring at too many Steel Temp. CSS sheets. Thanks for the fix, now it really is red.

:classic:

Romeos Tune 10-16-2005 05:05 PM

For some reason my font color on the navbars is not white. It's an offred and barely visible. I can't seem where to find it to edit the color. Anyone?

Ok..... Disregard. I found it........ Must be tired....... :o

Madmp3zz 10-20-2005 07:02 PM

How do I reset the counter?

My bad... Having one of those week long brain cramps lately.. :o

Evil Chris 10-25-2005 01:21 AM

Installed and it looks nice. Good job.

(note: footer info for this hack says "Steel Blue". I manually changed it to say "Red")

Evil Chris 10-25-2005 01:27 AM

Not sure why, but I've noticed that the welcome message does not show the username of the logged in person.

It just says... "Good evening, "

and that's it.

nasser71 10-28-2005 11:21 AM

hi
i want to localize the style and i need the buttons BSD
any help in getting this

OFFSHORE DAN 10-29-2005 02:52 AM

Hey Kall I have been using this style on my forum. I was wondering if you were going to be releasing any other styles soon that have the SEO'ed stuff allready done like this one. Maybe a dark style. Red and Silver or Red and Black?

Thanks

HUMMERh3 11-07-2005 05:38 PM

Is there anyway to use this style with my Vb 3.51? It gives me the following message:

This file was created using a different version of vBulletin from the one you are running.

Your version: 3.5.1
File version: 3.5.0

Sorry about that, I had updated the templates but not the plugin.

Updated .zip in first post, now 3.5.1 ready, plugin is fixed and the navbar isn't that ugly non-formatted look. :)

HUMMERh3 11-07-2005 07:00 PM

Your the BEST Kall :)

tobi1105 11-14-2005 07:08 AM

Hi there!

Sorry for my incompetence - I'm just a fresh vBulletin-user. Thanks for that nice style!

I have downloaded it and installed. But a few pictures are not displayed (like screenshot). They are at the right place and the rights are the same.

Can you help me?

Best regards

Tobi

Silly question but.. did you upload the steelred/misc/ folder from the zip?

tobi1105 11-14-2005 08:12 AM

of course.

maybe it's because the german language is installed?

but the image path is right...curious...

tobi1105 11-14-2005 12:55 PM

Hm, it seems to be a server-problem - because I can't go IN the MISC-directory. "Access-denied" - I wonder because the rights are the same as "statusicon"... huh... :surprised:

I love the skin, however inside of my threads, the user profile section of my postbit_legacy looks like this
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2005/11/11.jpg

Any idea how I can make the profile information appear transparent against the red, instead of the white seperators?

Thanks

Click INSTALL and I will tell you. ;)

(Check in your 'Additional CSS Definitions' in the bottom of All Style Options. Change the background of .nzbpostbit to the same colour as alt1 or alt2.)

oops... sorry about that install thing...

Thanks for the assistance.

On Edit:

Is there a way to remove the hyperlink of the Forum table, and just keep it to the original version of the forum names being hyperlinked?

ukdalai 11-25-2005 01:34 PM

Hi i seem to be missing an icon from the misc folder, its looking for images/steelred/misc/forum_icon.gif, ive re downloaded the zip but its not there, is it left over from the default style, ive looked there but i cant find it..

Craig

kall 11-25-2005 06:30 PM

Dang. Thought I had fixed that already.

The .zip has been updated.

quanvo81 01-02-2006 07:42 AM

Nice and Awesome , Clicked Install

quanvo81 01-11-2006 09:23 PM

Help please?
The skin is nice and cool.
But after 1 week, I didn't touch anything with the Template, today I went online and check my website, it is very weird that the Forum Title text is bigger than normal. (note: I never edit anything in Navbar), that's why I surprise.
Bellow are the attachment images

Any help will be very appreciated

majorxp 02-07-2006 09:02 PM

This being updated to .3? I am considering using it...

RayMatrix 03-30-2006 11:24 AM

My Forum segmentation looks like this:

Name Forum
--Forum 1
----Forum 1.1
----Forum 1.2
-- Forum 2
----Forum 2.1

and so on.

At the moment it looks like this

Name Forum
--Forum 1
--Forum 2

I played with the Counts at Forumdisplay Generel wich worked with my old Style but nothing happens.

Is there a way to show them all at Forumstart?

RayMatrix 04-04-2006 07:48 AM

Nobody out there who can help me out?
