(split) IPB pro arcade development

YES - as I told before, I am currenty re-doing the whole AdminCP-Section of this hack so that there is no more need of those IPB-files. And it will even look more integrated to vBulletin as it uses the same ACP-style now ;)

So work is in progress, after finishing I will release this new, legal version of ibProArcade which also contains all past security-fixes, almost all AddOns and alot of bugfixes - so stay tuned for some days and wait for my release, where I (of course) got permission from Chris (author of ibProArcade) to release my version when finished

Snake 08-28-2005 09:11 AM

Oh so you're the one who's porting the hack to vBulletin and not strmike or Chris huh? That's cool. Does that mean you'll be converting v3.0 to vB as well?

MrZeropage 08-28-2005 07:01 PM

Chris and some others did the original port to vBulletin of ibProArcade by wrapping everything around so that the code still thinks it is an Invision-Board. They just "translated" the variables.

I was involved in the conversion and had contact to Chris to help out with some things, that's why I am administrator at ibproarcade-vb.com but the main work was not done by me.

Now I took that vBulletin-Version of ibProArcade some time ago, fixed the security-bugs and alot of other bugs and malfunctions to make this arcade fit my personal taste of a "perfect" hack. I improved the style alot, included most AddOns (AllMods from stlmike) and finally made one complete version which automatically detects wheather it's vBulletin 3.0.x or 3.5.0 and sets all necesarry variables in a correct way. This is working for about 2 weeks now and means that upgrading to vBulletin 3.5.0 just needs to import and active one single plugin and the ibProArcade continues its work in your forum :)

Now that this license-problem came up (two php-files in AdminCP are from the original Invision-Board) I had to stop my planned of my ibProArcade release last week and started re-coding the whole AdminCP-script for the ibProArcade. After finishing this I can (finally) release it and thus bring up a legal, complete, extended and bugfixed version of ibProArcade for vBulletin *proud*

Chris already gave his permission to release it (thx!) so just five me some more days to work on the AdminCP-script.

For all german users one more good news: this ibProArcade-Release will contain a complete german translation

About ibProArcade 3.0: I personally won't start converting this to vBulletin, I think Chris can do this much quicker. But if you compare v3.0 to my upcoming version it already has alot (maybe all ?) feature of v3.0 so I think there will be no need to quickly upgrade... But time will see ;)

micheal332001 08-28-2005 09:05 PM

Hi there

Will you put the port in for the pnflashgames in as well as thats a good place to get free and payed for games from.
Also this dose not refreash the page all the time as the scores are saved with a componnent in the game its self.
The reason i ask is i make games for pnflashgames and i have now moved to vbulletin and would like to be able to enclude these games too.
I have been trying to put the pnflashgames hack in for the IPB but im not that good with php at the mo. Also i have alot of other things on the go.

Please put this in too as its a very good port many thanks

Mike

MrZeropage 08-28-2005 09:36 PM

Yes, that pnFlashGames-Code is included but yet not tested as I got no game of this type. Maybe you can send me one of that games for testing :)

I'm glad to hear that. So in other words, you will be releasing your version of ibProArcade for both vBulletin versions: v3.0.x and v3.5.x?

Because most of the people out there are going nuts about v3.5.

MrZeropage 08-29-2005 10:49 AM

Yes, you all can stop having trouble - my release will provide an automatical detection of vB 3.0.x and 3.5.0 and make everything work :)

loonytune15 08-29-2005 01:23 PM

looking forward to this release, just one question, what if we already have the IPB version of the arcade installed, will there be an upgrade version available?

MrZeropage 08-29-2005 01:58 PM

You just have to replace all the files and do some additional queries - thanks for that tip, maybe I will include some "DB updater" that alters the tables the way they are needed

amykhar 08-29-2005 02:03 PM

why not just make it a product? Then you don't have to do an install script. ;)

Snake 08-29-2005 02:15 PM

Yeah I agree with amy. Also it could be a lot easier to install / uninstall especially for the new people in here. ;)

MrZeropage 08-29-2005 02:58 PM

Because ibProArcade does all bring its own file with it and the installscript just does the SQL-commands. To make one version for vBulletin 3.0.x and 3.5.0 it is most simple to keep this all the same :)

I don't want to hesitate too long with the release, but I will take a look on the possibility to make a "product"

Then again, I doubt a product XML file will be parseable by 3.0.x, which he already stated the hack should be compatible with.

MrZeropage 08-30-2005 10:19 AM

3.0.x won't interpret this XML so it may reside there without any effect. The installscript will sure be there for 3.0.x

I will look what is the best way :)

Question. What if we had the old vB 3.0.X version already installed before we upgraded to 3.5.X? I would really like to know. o_o Is there gonna be an update script so we can keep our scores and settings? O_o;

MrZeropage 08-31-2005 11:35 AM

As there are several 3.0.x versions around (stlmike did some "AllMod"-versions and spread them via ibproarcade-vb) you have to make sure that all db-tables for my extended version are existing... I will see if I can do some "db updater" for it.

If using my upcoming version of ibProArcade you can easily move from 3.0.x to 3.5.0 later as there is just little work to do (insert one plugin) and everything continues its work

I did not have an "allMod" version on my forum. :| Does that mean that you may need to make several db update scripts?

MrZeropage 09-01-2005 05:28 AM

No, thanks for the tip - I will adapt the installationscript to detect if there are several tables existing and thus it will make sure to put everything in the right place.

Please do me a favour and send me information about your database-structure concerning the arcade-tables - I am waiting for your PM to compare :) Thx!

Guess all I can do now, is wait. >_>

jbd 09-03-2005 12:54 PM

Looking forward to this hack! Will install on GamesForum.com once done :)

MrZeropage 09-03-2005 09:17 PM

@walim:
Maybe this is done via PM that should be just some more lines of code ... I'll see :)
For 1on1 there is the tournament included, which can be with 2, 4 or 8 players.

Thanks for all your patience, I will push on this project, just wait ...

jbd 09-04-2005 02:05 AM

I have heard that, due to the new plugins system, hacks created for vb3.5 will not have to be re-hacked after upgrading to newer versions of vbulletin. This is one of the main advantages of vb3.5 compared to earlier versions of vbulletin.

I'm wondering if your ibproarcade hack would work in this way?

Thanks in advance -
James

MrZeropage 09-04-2005 12:46 PM

I don't understand your question.
Yes, if any modification/hack makes 100% use of the plugin-system and do not need to alter any php-file, you can easily upgrade from 3.5.0 to 3.5.x
This of course is the way ibProArcade will use, too :)

But there is also one good thing - even migrating from 3.0.x to 3.5.0 does not need any re-hacking, you just need to import the suitable plugin and activate it, that's all.

Hope I grab your intention, otherwise please ask again :)

That's one reason why all the hacks I installed on my forum only uses the plugin system.. (other than vbadvanced content management system. :|)

Paul M 09-04-2005 08:35 PM

Not all hacks can be done via plugins, it's just not possible.

jbd 09-05-2005 09:45 AM

this is very good news though, if this can be done as a plugin, that's just amazing! Nice one, can't wait to see it.

loonytune15 09-08-2005 03:45 AM

Half the community is waiting on it, we all hope it will work and work well :D

Wordplay 09-12-2005 04:25 PM

i double that statement, any update on how much longer this hack will appoximately take? i've got +8,000 hungry members waiting for it.

I wanna know as well. When will it be done?

MrZeropage 09-13-2005 04:26 PM

I finished the ACP about 40% and even added the feature "send PM on beaten highscore" to it.

After ACP is finished I will check for upgrade-possibility for existing ibPA-installations to my "extended version", and then I will release it.

I hope everything will be done within the next 14 days ...

jugo 09-13-2005 04:57 PM

Mr Zero...You are a GODSENT!!!

I have upgraded to vb3.5 and my users are begging me for an arcade...you will be their salvation.

TTG 09-13-2005 05:36 PM

I installed the ibProArcade v2.5.1 on vbulletin 3.5.0 when we were using RC1 .. upgraded now to RC3 and the Arcade is still working well.
Will there be any advantages in upgrading to this new version ?

My arcade

tteal 09-13-2005 05:50 PM

Can't wait to see the finished product.....

MrZeropage 09-14-2005 05:09 AM

@TTG:
Yes, there will be, as I fixed all security-bugs found yet and even did some more bugfixing and improvement. Just wait for my version and you'll see :D

tteal 09-14-2005 09:10 PM

Anxiously awaiting release of this for vbulletin 3.5 :ninja:

RaceJunkie 09-15-2005 01:34 AM

This is great news. Does this mean we will have a arcade that we can get som support also. I have had a terrible time getting any from the ibPro vB support forum..
