RPG Inferno 2.4 Addon: RPG Info in postbit
 

This is a modification for RPG Inferno v2.4

This presents the users RPG Info in their postbit in a dhtml dropdown box.

A version similar to this was released by Zero Tolerance, with his permission I'm releasing this one as he's busy working on the new Inferno version :D

Okay, this is in the format that I originally did. ZT's was much nicer and I may try to work out a combination of the two later but for now, this will do :)

If you have an rpg avatar it'll display that, if not it'll grab your job's image.

Also, all the words are controlled through phrases. The money phrase in the plugin default is "Gil" though in the screenshots here it'll be "Spam Coins".

If you want to change it from Gil to something else, just go to your Languages & Phrases -> Search in Phrases ->

Search for Text: inferno_postbit_gil
Search in: Phrase Variable Name only
Click Find
Click Edit
Type the name of your money in the box and click save.


Again, when this plugin is installed it will be "Gil".

Upload 1 xml
Edit 1 template
Enjoy!
(Optional, edit one phrase if your money is named something other then "Gil")


Version 1.1.0 does not work in PMs so it has If statements so it doesn't even display the box (broken links annoy me). There is an addon released in https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=757324&postcount=18]THIS POST[/url] that enables it to work in PMs however, currently that requires a file edit so it is not in the main version.

New Version 1.1.0 to fix error when reputation system is enabled and bar images.

To upgrade follow the instructions in the zip.

You ONLY have to do the file edit if you use the reputation system.

And not with the full hack as I'm hoping to avoid file edits whereever I can. This way people who donot wish to do the file edit can install the normal version and those that want it to appear in PMs can do the addon after installing the normal version.

Hmm, didn't think I had messed with that from the reputation thing.

Let me double check this real fast with a fresh file.

Just what i was looking for.

The only problem i have is my bars (colours) are not showing up.

Bar one I can fix.

Bug found with those that have the reputations turned on.

Search for a fix on it then I'll post up both.

Question to the moderators... would this need to be classified as a code modification due to it needing a file edit to work with those using the reputation system?

um...stupid question...

but the inferno forums say RPG Inferno v2.4 is only good for vb up to 3.0.7. yet, your mod is for RC2. :/ :ermm:

so.... we need to have RPG installed first to use this right? (but can't cause its not compatible). Am I missing something? :confused:

before i try taking it apart.

1. when you hover the link to see the profile on my board its kinda just the I <--- looking cursor how can i change that if i hover other links it shows the hand.

2. instead of showing members avatars how can i det rid of that and either show nothing or the job icon. because if the avatar is to big it makes it look crappy.

there is a rc2 version inferno is running rc2 with the game now..
you have to purchase it i believe the older versions are free

As they mention there is a v2.4 for vbulletin 3.5. He didn't change anything between the two versions other then making the variables compatabile and moving file edits to hooks etc.

Vizionz -

1) Not sure what you mean, what exactly do you have the mouse resting on that your looking for hover text on?

2) to change this so that only the job image appears and not the avatar go to

Admincp -> Plugin System -> Plugin Manager -> Scroll down to "Postbit build info for RPG Inferno" and click edit.

In the code there find this -
And REPLACE it with

That will change it so that it only shows the job image and never shows a user's rpg avatar.

thanks ya know when you hover plain text how the cursor changhes to like a I shape. thats how it looks whenever i hover the view rpg stats link.. but if i click it will open it..

but like any other link on the board it will show a little pointer hand icon...as the curser..

does this call some cursor that i might not have in my style

It sure doesn't... hmm maybe it doesn't define a cursor at all and should.

Never noticed that in the year or two I've had this code up LOL!

I'll peek at some other code, and see if I can find how/where it might define that.

Hmm he must have typoed.

It only works with RC and up as it uses the "Product Manager" which didn't exist in the beta stages.

Once you own a license you go to http://rpginferno.net and click on members download, it's right there.

yeah thats the best way to get your questions answered, but i am running the latest version of vb and so is cyricx and it works perfectly so yeah your all good if you purchase

Ahha! Fixed in PMs, however it requires a file edit to do so I've posted a request for a new hook location.

In the meantime, attached is the addon. I won't be releasing it with the full hack as it requires a file edit and I'm hoping to avoid this at whatever cost I can heh.

whats that mean in pm ? so like when someone battles you when you get that pm it will have there stats in that window ? or all pm windows

PMs is private messages.

When you view private messages from people on the boards with version 1.1.0 it doesn't show their rpg stats at all.

With the addon it will, when you receive ANY pm but ONLY if they have an rpg inferno character. If they donot have a character nothing will be displayed.

oh okay that will work :) now if someone could make this plugin system aytomatically do the file edits we would be all good :P since i use multi styles

The fix for if you use the reputation system will always require an edit :(

But the PM fix could be done without an edit if the vb devs add the hooks in like they have in the showthread_query location.

I'm crossing my fingers they do as there is alot I'd love to do in PMs, specifically wanting to avoid adding queries :)

I've also updated this version to 1.2 changing the layout of the dhtml to avoid confusion with other RPG mods.

If you use the reputation system then do this part of the instruction file

Just tested by doing the edit and then turning on the rep system on my site and I'm not getting any errors.

Are you not doing that edit?

i figured out the problem

that line appears twice in showthread

and i thought there was only one its today when i oppened and checked notice that line appeared twice switched it and it works now! only thing is in the other mode i cant seem to show the stat when i go on rpg stats....

which mode are you having problems with? just hybrid?

By replacing that twice I've elminated the bug from my board. It works in all three modes with no errors.

What bug are you still experiencing?

hybrid's fine now its in threaded mode that when i cant get to show it (nto a big deal) doubt any of the users are actually using that
