Problem With VB?
 

Ok i've noticed that in places such as myspace and stuff where you go to have a webpage.... if you but something like

It will show as red, however, when i do it in my profile in vb.... it shows as white or some random color... unless i put the "#"... this only happens on netscape though.

The correct usage is #FF0000 not FF0000 :p

I understand.. however, why would it work in some places and not others? Say a member on my forum doesnt know this and they put ff0000, then how would i make it so it still shows o_0?

Some browsers (e.g. IE) do not need compliant code to render it, therefore meaning they interpret "ff0000" as "#ff0000"...

You could probably use some kind of regular expression to add a # infront of the 6 digit hexadecimal value if one does not exist, or you could limit the user using such a tag, and instead have an entry field, where you instruct them to only enter the 6 digit hexademical value, have the insert/update query automatically add a # to the front of the field value, after stripping any #'s that appear in the field that were entered by the user :)

The problem is not with vB. It's with myspace.
I hate doing my profile cause I always do it the right way, which never works.

Oh i see.... another thing i noticed is with myspace they use <table border="1" bordercolor="#000000"> and stuff like that and it works looking fine....

When i do it it looks stupid lol... look at attatchments....


The first image is myspace... the second is me.....

On mines i used border="1" bordercolor="cc0000: for the misc part... for the bottom i used style="border: 2px #cc0000 solid"... which is why from the bottom of Misc. and down it looks fine... but i need to be able to use border="1" directly, so that it's easier for members to edit and make borders different colors and stuff through css....

rotfl now here's the weirder part... if you view the source of myspace and put it into and the html try it viewer in www.w3schools.com the borders still show messed up..... so in other words....... MYSPACE FOLLOWS ITS OWN RULES OF CODING !!!?!?!!!!!!!!!!

MySpace is a buggy, flawed site. I have never been there without seeing some type of error message when trying to view profiles. :down:

which is why i am releasing a system just like it that will not have any errors or anything :-D and it will also have a journal and buddyprofile system :-D

Sorry i didn't mean releasing on vb.org.. i meant releasing on my site :-x... the way in which im putting it together is different than danny and it's not really 1 HACK.

This is another one of myspace's "security" measures, or so they said when I asked on their forums. If want to get the same effect as myspace, you can do what hellsatan said. But I don't see a need for it, but I have yet to think on how I am going to implement the user-end style for vbspace. I'll share once I get to that part of the hack.
