Kids, don't get a stereo!

If you love your car any skip on the loud stereo system. Don't get my wrong I love mine but I hate what it is doing to my car.

In just 6 months heres a list of things I've had to fix directly as a result of the virbration from my stereo:

Passenger side lock (required taking door apart :( )

Passenger side window (required taking door apart again and buying new motor because I have power windows)

Multiple things inside the dash board had to be re attached or screwed back down. It still rattles real bad if I'm over 55 mph :(

Speaker cover in drivers side door came off, had to buy a new one (plastic clamps broke)

odometer stopped working, so did the trip meter (not got around to fixing but I hear the part is real common in the junk yards).

License plate has been re-attached 4 times now (I would make it stick for good but then I would have a problem when I get a new one :( ).

And today my drivers side window got off track so badly that I'm going to have to take the door apart to roll it up, hope it doesn't rain before I get a chance to fix it! :(

It seems like you keep burning yourself with a lit cigarette to find out if its still hot.

Unlike the vbchat from ZT here, it shouldnt be to hard to uninstall.

You hear that ZT, thats right buddy, we want an uninstall script.

Brings me back to my point.

i guess God has it out for your car real bad huh?!?!?!?

Corriewf 07-18-2005 05:18 PM

I used that analogy because I know you smoke the ports, which is also a bad habit. These kids these days with their loud music and their smoking ports.

Actually sounds like you bought a car with poor construction and substandard parts... What model is it? Any entry level car sold in the United States is actually designed this way to encourage you to upgrade. Hate the throwaway mentality.

Andrew 07-18-2005 06:58 PM

I take it that you have subs/amps that are causing the parts to break and not just an upgraded head unit and standard speakers ? I've upgraded my head unit and speakers in every vehicle I've owned and never had any issues with them causing things to break.

Yes, but did you own an 89 Ford Pinto?

You need to send in a letter to pimp my ride Brad.

Nope - A friend of mine tried to enter me but they only pimp people on the West Coast :(

Dynamat helps with a lot of that stuff.

Thanks for the advice, but I'll never use loud stereos as I hate loud music...

Tony G 07-19-2005 04:42 AM

You need a subwoofer that takes up the whole boot space. ^^ Although that'd probably stuff your car up in due time.

But no rap plz. :p

I have a aftermarket headunit with replaced speakers up front, an external amp in the trunk pushing a 10 inch sub in a custom ported box. It isn't anything to brag about really but it is still causing me all this trouble.

My next stereo will be a lot bigger and a lot louder, but I can tell you right now no way it's going in my daily driver car :)

I prefer C4. The resulting carnage is much more satisfying.
