About this hack:
One of the biggest problems on forums as you may know is 'posts boosting'. There are users who LOVE to say 'thanks' when ever they can. How can it hurt? Their post count goes up, they have nothing to loose.

There are also users who really like to express their thanks to post but don't like posting a post that looks like they're post boosting.

Then comes the moderators who have to delete people's thanks yous so a thread can look readable with out the thanks yous thrown around.

Finally comes the posters of these useful posts. They have no idea how many people really likes their posts if only some people say 'thanks'.

What this hack does is fix ALL these problems - except those users who like post boosting. This places a button called 'thanks.' When a user clicks on it, it places his username in a box right under the post saying that so-and-so says 'thanks' for the post. Every-one who clicks is placed in one box.

By giving your users the extra feature, you forum will look allot nice and organized. It is a granted liking by ALL the members of your forum.

just wondeing will you be adding a page which adds things like

- most thanked user
- most thanked post
- most thankful user
- top thanked users
- etc

I like the new delete thank by user, how about for the admins where as you can remove one thanks?

I do plan to make a modual for the vBadvanced CMPS portal. Maybe even an add on for the statistics hack.

I will be looking into admin deleting one thanks at a time.

Sorry Abe .. couldn't get into my admincp after receiving the error message and had to use the unplug.php to disable plugins and then deleted it.

For anyone else that has probems after installing a plugin .. you might find this useful :-

Uploaded the xml, and went to do the edits, now I cant login to my admioncp... Numerous SQL errors.. Any way out of this?Fixed

Might be a good idea to provide a copy of the unplug / deplug with all future plugins, in case someone has the same problem :nervous:

I have it now.. I got hammered..

when I upload the plugin(fir the thanx button) it gives the message I gave above & as soon as it uploads the plugin the connection cuts with db

I would have to see the exact error. Did you try importing it twice? I recommend just wait until I come out with the version for vb35rc1.

Version 2.0b2 for vb3.5rc1 was released.

Anyone who installed the version 2.0b1, uninstall the hack while you are still using vb3.5b4. You can keep the template changes. Upgrade vb then follow the instructions in the zip.

all works fine apart from the new line to show who's thanked the poster doesnt show for me...

Did you do all the template changes? And it will only show if someone thanked the post already.

Hack works on RC2.

Just wondering; are the thanked messages visible for everyone or just for the poster? Else the topics might get a little messed I think.

Everyone sees them. They blend in with the posts so it doesn't disrupt anything.

You might want to check the Templates, they are not fully XHTML compliant.

Somewhat of a random question, but I previously had the 3.0.x version of this hack and was wondering if there's a means to upgrade from that to this version. From the looks of the xml, I'm guessing it does a clean install, right?

Yes. It does a clean install. What I recommend is upgade your forum, dont worry about this hack. All data is stored. One vbGold is released I should release an update. All previus thanks will still be around.

I have problem when merging threads. It shows some error at the top of page until I remove thanks posts from thread.

I will be looking into this. I have the same problem on my forum.

i have a problem, really want to use this 3.5 Thank hack in conjunction to the uCash modification. I set ALL setting correct so that when a user gives THANKS, it will increase the thanked users reputation. That works however, when I set the uCash give reputation and recieved user gain point also, it will not give any cash. It will however give cash if reputation is given the normal way. Is there anyway to fix this, or better yet add a piece of code for me so when a user gets thanks, they get one point of uCash instead of going though reputation?

Can I request a feature? It would really work great for my forum if part of a post could be hidden until the user clicks on the thanks button. I hope you'll take this into consideration for a future version.
