Setting not saving for me

Ok I have reinstalled twice, double checked file edits, templates and all but we are having the same problem.

King Kovifor can't even figure it out.

Any help much appreciated.

Run this query to see if your settings have been created.

PHP Code:

SELECT FROM setting WHERE varname like 'warn_%'

Mythotical 06-30-2005 01:34 PM

Ran it, came back ok

All sql queries are in the table so I have no idea why its not saving. Anything else that might solve this?

sv1cec 06-30-2005 02:11 PM

Wierd! If all the settings are there, and if you have uploaded the distribution files to the server, it should save them fine. One question: where do you try to save them from? There are two places you can work on the Options, the first is in the Warning Systems menu, in AdminCP and the second is in the Vbulletin Options. Which one are you using?

Mythotical 06-30-2005 04:40 PM

Warning systems menu, should I try from vbulletin options menu?

sv1cec 06-30-2005 05:39 PM

TRy it from there, although something sounds strange here.

Mythotical 06-30-2005 06:51 PM

Interesting, its not even showing up under my vbulletin options. So maybe I missed something. I will have to double check template modifications and file edits which will have to wait till I get home so that will be a few hours. I will post back in here once I double check all that stuff.

sv1cec 06-30-2005 07:20 PM

If it does not showing up under your vbulletin options, you haven't run the warn_install_setting.php. Point your browser to that file and go through it.

King Kovifor 06-30-2005 09:53 PM

I checked ALL of the file edits in the warn and see nothing about vBulletin options add. I'll find that file and try it (yes, myth I've been trying.)

sv1cec 06-30-2005 10:11 PM

Point your browser to that file:

http://www.yourdomain.com/admincp/wa...ll_setting.php

and run through it. (change www.yourdomain.com with whatever your real domain is).

Trying it Now... Thanks for that link (got side tracked)

EDIT:

Yay! That worked! Thanks dude (forgot your username)! Myth i did it...................... jk jk jk! doing the settings and testing now!

sv1cec 07-01-2005 02:36 AM

Glad you made it!

King Kovifor 07-01-2005 03:21 PM

sv1cec,
It also worked with the warnings and all that. This is a GREAT hack.

sv1cec 07-01-2005 05:21 PM

I told you it will work, didn't I?

Have fun and enjoy!

Snoop-It 07-10-2005 01:37 PM

I done that aswell but it dont work for me.. only when i first installed the system but what is that file meant to do?

It displays this...

Welcome to the Upgrade Controls for the Advanced Warning System!
Add the latest settings to the Advanced Warning System.
Running this part even if you have the latest version does not cause any harm.
You are running version 3.4.14.
This hack is version 3.4.14.

and a button saying - Add settings

when i click next or that install button it says skipped for all of the things and then it says version number updated and brings me back to that page.. is that what the file is meant to do?

sv1cec 07-10-2005 01:41 PM

You have to select the "Add settings" and click next. If it skips through all the settings it means that the settings are there. Then you should go to your AdminCP, in the Warning System menu, Manage Warnings Options and change the options to your preference. Then save them.

yeah? that works for me anyway, i thought this file was ment to do something else because it just kept bringing me back to the same place. il delete this file then?

No point in changing the settings if the actual script doesn't work properly... although i have changed the preferences around.

Should i take screen shots of what doesn't apprear to work properly?

And also in every users "Quick Links" - is it meant to show - View Your Warnings? o ronly the people that have been warned?

sv1cec 07-10-2005 01:52 PM

Please try to be a bit more specific. You say "No point in changing the settings if the actual script doesn't work properly". Which script doesn't work properly?

There is no need for pictures, unless there is no other way to describe your problem. And if you have changed the preferences, that means the settings are saving. Please start a new thread, where you will exactly describe your problem.

And yes, the "View Your Warnings" link appears for everyone.
