Call a custom template from another template

I've created a template with my google adcode in it, and I'd like to drop that template name into other templates where I want it placed. However, inserting the template name $google_adcode does no good, nor does {$google_adcode}... how do I include this template?

I am also looking for answer to this... How do I include a custom template with v3.5.3 ?
Been looking on the forums, no luck so far. Please help!

Alex

where do you want the template to be included?

I have created a new custom template called "side_content" and wish to include it inside HOFUMHOME. I thought it would be similar to including $header or $footer but it's not like that...

Thanks

ok, give me a couple of ticks.

The purpose of the custom template is to help me avoid duplicating content within the templates. I want a certain content block to appear on the front page, in the sidebar of the page structure but not on the calendar page for instance, so I thought including the block inside a custom template would be the way to go... So I was wondering how these custom templates are being used then...

Thanks for your time, you're very fast :)

Ok, here you go.

Import this product and the place $side_content where ever you want it to show.

Right,

1. Imported the xml file.
2. Added a new template "side_content"
3. Including $side_content" into FORUMHOME does nothing in the front end.

Am I missing anything?

Sorry, my bad, there was an error in the product. I've updated it, so redownload it and reimport it ensuring that you set the overwrite existing option to YES

It works!
Thanks a lot for the great support :)
Verry happy!
