[Release] Graphical PM Representation

Well, there is code in the navbar template that is coded out, but instead of writing a hack, this can now be done using conditionals.

It's simple! Just modify this code to work with proper links in the navbar, and make sure you have two graphics that represent pms off and pms on!

PHP Code:

<if condition="$bbuserinfo[pmunread] == 0">
 <
img src="pmoff.gif"></img>
<else />
 <
img src="pmon.gif"></img>
</if>

See how easy this is??? :D

Can you supply just some images for the people who cannot end up finding a pm off/on .gif?

I made an interesting header addition that was inspired by your little snippet, and I was wondering if you minded if I share it with everyone. :)

Please do :D

This was all part of a complete header redo on my part, hence the rather ambiguous code I hade to share....I didn't have any original code left!

Is there any similar solution for vb2 ?

Bad Bunny 10-12-2003 04:46 AM

Not using conditionals. VB2 does not have conditionals. You would have to hack files for vb2.

imported_rynthar 10-12-2003 04:49 AM

Is it me, or has conditionals made it so you doing mods/hacks using templates only much more common?

Well that is their intended purpose. Increase the power of templates so more modifications can be made without editing the php code. The less people edit the code the easier your upgrades are and the better support is from us at Jelsoft.

imported_rynthar 10-12-2003 08:12 PM

Lol. Thank god Wayne. I am never ever ever going to forget upgrading from 2.2.9 to 2.3.0. About 45 hacks lost *sighs*

imported_chuanse 10-13-2003 05:58 AM

That's a bummer :/

Mike_XBLW 12-17-2003 12:12 AM

OK...I'm new to this...where do you put the conditionals?

Thanks

Sorry, I dont understand the conditionals yet, and there doesn't seem to be documentation on vBulletin yet.

In the navbar template, look for this code:

<if condition="$show['pmstats']"><br />

Add the conditional in the first post after it. You'll need to upload the pmon.gif and pmoff.gif to your forum directory.

I installed this hackin the navbar at http://www.landscapeforums.com but it only shows up on the forumhome navbar and not any of the others any ideas as to why it does this?

simple but good solution - some DHTML or CSS would not mind as well ...
