Need some feedback...

Well, i've been working on this pretty much all day, so i want some feedback. Dont say it's too black and white please. I didnt know where to put this btw, so sorry if it's in the wrong place, but this isnt a modified board, so it doesnt go in that forum

I've been working on this for approx. 3 hours, now i just need to integrate it into my forum. So.....any takers?

Thats a very nice effect. Although, I think the font for the navagation is too small, and could affect people with large resolutions.

Lain Iwakura 06-22-2003 12:27 AM

hmm, i'm running at 1280x1024, and i can see it fine. but i guess i can see your point, the only problem is the font only looks good if it's at 8pt, any bigger and it get's distorted because it's a pixel font.

Tony G 06-22-2003 12:52 AM

I suggest don't use pixel font, has too many boundaries. Try to make it look good for every size and resolution.

Well it is...it's very hard to read the text as a result of the contrast...

Tony G 06-22-2003 02:11 AM

I didn't say it, but because filburt did I will. It's too black and white. Needs some color to spice it up. ;)

Lain Iwakura 06-22-2003 02:17 AM

like i said, dont comment that. i intentionally made it black and white, and i intentionally made the text hard to read.

Tony G 06-22-2003 02:36 AM

Then what is its purpose to others?

Rufus69 06-22-2003 01:16 PM

If people can't read it it's pretty much useless, but I can read it just fine. I don't know what filburt and tony are smoking. :P (but I want some :( )

SaintDog 06-23-2003 12:32 AM

Personally, it is not too black (well, ok, there is not much that is not black ;)), but, it is too grunge looking, which was a quick up and down fad that quickly (imo) died down after photoshop users found something better to play with (i.e. Bryce, 3DSM, ect).

I would try to work on something a bit more colorful which does not carry the grunge tone, but without the trend-***** such design (really limiting? nope :)).

I can read it, I'm not on a high resolution. I'm just saying that most are on very high resolutions.

I use 1280x1024 at home/work and 1600x1200 at work ;)

Tony G 06-23-2003 10:38 AM

1024 X 768 here, or 800 X 600.

Lain Iwakura 06-23-2003 07:08 PM

-_-, everytime i do something, it's either too big or too small. i remember posting something awhile ago and people said that most run at 800 x 600, and now he's saying that most people run at higher resolutions. the truth is, probably less than 1% of computer users have a resolution higher than 1280x1024, and i'm willing to exclude those users, because i run at 1280x1024 and i see it just fine.

filburt1 06-23-2003 08:51 PM

Eh...a lot more than 1% of computers run at 1280x1024. All three of my work computers do. The idea of web design is that you designed for every major possible permutation of browsers, resolution, etc.

Lain Iwakura 06-24-2003 12:33 AM

i said LARGER than 1280x1024, which would be refering to 1600x1200 and larger.

Its getting more common, I use 1600x1200 at all times.

Lain Iwakura 06-24-2003 03:34 AM

i know it's getting common, but not that many people can afford 19-23" monitors, and even if they can, they are too stupid to get one.

Stupid to own a 23 inch moniter?, im not sure but I *think* thats what you said. Ill be the frist to tell you that my 23 inch ctr was one of the best investments ive ever made.

Anyway's, your going to get everyones thoughts on your style and site when you start threads like these. We are only giving our options to you so you can make your site better. Im sure you have your reasons for making it black and white, and we respect that.

As for my impresstion of the style, its ok. But, its a bit dull imo, it just dosent grab my attention as much as it should. Thats why I really think if you introduced a 3rd color to the layout it whould perk it up alot.
