What you think? I know the style is not new but it still looks awesome. :D

looks good.....

* Too many forums for such a SMALL member base.....

Well thats all I can say otherwise it looks decent

Tony G 05-02-2003 05:36 AM

-Yeah, too many forums.
-You're still running a 2.2.6?
-91k header, not good for the modems.
-Navbar font is too small.
-Some footer text is too small.

AlexUK 05-02-2003 06:41 AM

I am running 2.2.8., I still need to fix those errors also.
I reduced the forums numbers now.

Tony G 05-02-2003 07:01 AM

I suggest you change the footer image to show that then. :)

Brad 05-02-2003 07:56 AM

Your layout has alot of eye candey but it takes forever to load on 56k, you might want to think about compressing/removing some of the heavy images.

Tony G 05-02-2003 08:01 AM

Header was slowest loading for me, and it was 91k. Thats big for a 56K.

d2alio 05-02-2003 06:43 PM

ah i see you have the former Xelation.com style. Aren't they still giving that out free somewhere? Or did the person who bought it from Xelation.com resell it again?

I'd say it looks good, but it's very old and i've made such comments on it before :)

Sean123 05-02-2003 08:43 PM

Alex bought the full rights to the design from Xelation . Then he used to sell it on vbskins.com , before he sold that domain to Corey

It loaded quite quickly for me and im on 48k

Tony G 05-02-2003 10:57 PM

Depends what you mean by quickly. The tables and that loaded fine as well as the image but the header was a bit slower.

assassingod 05-03-2003 06:32 AM

Most images were done in atleast 3 seconds:confused:
Strange how everyone else said it was slow

Tony G 05-03-2003 08:42 AM

You loaded the huge header in 3 seconds?

Maybe I over-exaggerated about the 3 seconds, but it did load very quickly

Tony G 05-03-2003 11:04 AM

Comes down to what we judge as 'quickly'

thuffner 05-05-2003 07:56 PM

I like the enter page button, reminds me of that movie Flubber. As for the forums, it did take a little while to load, and I am on T1 connection. Also, your threads and posts columns aren't aligned right. And maybe you should think about slimming down the number of forums, as you don't have a lot of users yet.

Other than that, it looks cool.

SaintDog 05-05-2003 11:46 PM

about 3 seconds here, on a cable modem though.

filburt1 05-06-2003 01:47 AM

It's fast here despite the fact that it uses even more images that WDF's home page.

Also the splash screen is functionally useless. Get rid of it.

SaintDog 05-06-2003 02:18 AM

Yeah, personally, I would ditch the splash, and still cut back on the forums, seeing as forums with 0 posts look bad. Once your forum/community grows, add 1-2 more, then a few more, and so on.

AlexUK 05-06-2003 06:23 AM

Thx for the advice, definately I will do that. :)

SaintDog 05-06-2003 06:59 AM

Also, it may just be me, but I do not consider console gaming to be on the tech-side of things, if you get my drift. While it does require technology to build such, most tech related items are dealing with computers, hardware, operating systems, and other such items related the them.

Next, ditch the forum rules forum and make a stick or announcement in the forums, it will look nicer and slim you down a forum.

Other from that, nothing else is really wrong with the forum, all looks well :)

Tony G 05-06-2003 09:34 AM

A off-topic forum is okay for any discussion not realted to your subject. Having the Gaming forum like SD said can make your forum look like it's not just tech and these all-around forums are becoming too popular.

AlexUK 05-07-2003 12:40 PM

I did that now, I added a new default style and will be opening the old and original xelation.com site soon.

Thx
