if i'm understanding your correctly, you'll need to add a td on either side of your main td that houses the forum. then set their width, and use css to set the background as the image you'd like displayed.

uhhh......

Breaker 03-15-2003 07:06 AM

me tries to tlk lamens :D u need 2 add a table fingy either side of your main forum table. then u can set the image you want for the sides as a background.... i tihnk that's it :D

SaintDog 03-15-2003 07:32 AM

Not that much to it :), start the table in the header like so (i.e. this would be at the very top of the header template):

<table width="XX%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" style="border-right: 1px solid #000000; border-left: 1px solid #000000;">
<tr>
<td>

The close the table in the footer template (i.e. this would go at the very bottom of the templat):

</td>
</tr>
</table>

That is just the basics with a black border, if you want the border another color, change the #000000's to a Hex color of your choice. Also, don't for get to change XX% to the width of your table.

i may be reading his first post incorrectly then, cause initially i thought he just wanted a border on either side and i was going to suggest just this, but then when i reread the post, i thought i understood that he wants an image as a border on either side.

Breaker 03-15-2003 11:58 AM

the title of the thread is "image border" so i guess that's what he wants

imported_Blindchild02 03-15-2003 12:56 PM

yea, i know how to add a regular border, i want an IMAGE one

Buddha 03-15-2003 06:56 PM

i would just add a
< table >< tr >< td > with the image set as the background for that < td > in the header and set the width, then < td > and then the rest of your forum (it'll be within this last < td >.
then in the footer, at the very bottom, add < /td >< td > and set the same info for the image that you want as the right border in that last < td >. then end it with < /td > < /tr > < /table >

remove the obvious spaces, set the parameters as to how wide you want everything as well as the colors, and then you're set.

basically all you have to do is set your entire forum (from header down to the footer) within another table... more specifically, nested within the middle < td > of another table.

Code:

<table>
 <tr>
  <td>  <-- this is your left border
    </td>
  <td>  <-- this is your forum
    </td>
    <td>  <-- this is your right border
      </td>
  </tr>
</table>

imported_Blindchild02 03-18-2003 11:07 PM

So, in the header, add this at the beginning:
Code:

<table width="95%" background="{imagesfolder}/background.jpg" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
<tr>
<td>

In the footer, add this at the end:
Code:

</td>
</tr>
</table>

Quite simple. :D

dstruct2k 03-21-2003 04:39 AM

Well... Mess with that. :confused: I'm not the best with making HTML tables do what I want. I don't completely understand the meaning of "td" and "tr" yet... I'll get it soon! :D
