[release] Total Characters

Author: filburt1
Description: Displays the total number of characters in all the posts in your forum.
Demo: None yet
Screenshot: http://www.vbulletintemplates.com/mo...=&postid=17068

This adds one query to forumhome. What's more the query is pretty server-intensive, so if you have a large board (I'm guessing more than 75,000 posts) I don't recommend that you use this mod.

Whoa
How the hell do you get sooooo many ideas??!?!?!?
Btw, it's cool, but I'm not going to install it.. :p?

filburt1 11-29-2002 04:33 PM

I get my ideas usually by just browsing vB's eerie spooky database with a flashlight and a sidearm and just getting ideas :)

Red Shadow 11-30-2002 01:59 AM

Nice! Im gonna go install it on my board :D

Sc0rp 11-30-2002 04:39 PM

its a nice idea.. not gonna use it though.. would like this for the postbit.. so that it shows how many chars each user has made :) that would be cool :)

filburt1 11-30-2002 04:40 PM

Putting it in the postbit would require hacking though :)

Sc0rp 12-01-2002 08:44 PM

yah.. I dont mind.. post it on vbulletin.org then ;)

I don't think this is practical for a forumhome mod, but it could be good on a statistics page (with average chars per post, etc).

Good work!

I love all the mods everyone has, but with a large vb base I noticed getting to many things in the phpinculde template bogs my site. Loo's Top stats I had to remove just a little ago. Once I removed it bam my site speed was back up.

My site has:
Members: 4,937, Threads: 6,400, Posts: 60,430, Total Thread Views: 861,264

Monthly Statistics for November 2002

Total Hits 7109291
