Vbt Hosting.....

i was just courious on what hosting company you are using... the is blazing fast :D

mine is decent speed but i really like this hosting could you please link me to the website or do you run run own serves...???

Tony G 11-22-2002 10:20 AM

http://www.viperhost.com is SaintDog's hosting company so I'm guessing that. :)

SaintDog 11-22-2002 01:42 PM

Thanks for the reference Anime-Loo, although there is not much to see since the server move is taking place right now ;).

vBulletinTemplates moved from ViperHost a while back, not because of issues, but because Jelsoft/vBulletin stated they would host vBulletinTemplates on thier servers; so the move took place :).

Brad 11-22-2002 04:50 PM

you mean tony? ;).

And viperhost is just as fast IMO, once they move over click the image in my sig for my forum, its hosted with viperhost. That is if you want to see how vbulletin runs with their servers. :)

SaintDog 11-22-2002 05:11 PM

Sorry about that AL, his avatar looks like one that you previously used :).

As for VipeHost, the completetion of the server move is nearing. I was provided with a 24-33/36 hour move period, the move started yesterday morning @ 11:00 so we are on the 27th hour right now (closer and closer :))

Brad 11-22-2002 05:26 PM

Hehe i dont see how people get mixed up by avatars, mabey im just used to reading the username? ;). Meh you hoodlens and your avatars, back in my day we dident have them! and we walked 3 miles up hill both ways in 6 foot of snow to post, pssh! ;)

Tony G 11-22-2002 07:54 PM

Hehe, I didn't know how many forums I went to were on Viperhost. :p

SaintDog 11-22-2002 09:21 PM

Quit a few forums are on ViperHost, although vBT is not one of them (although it was for its first month in opperation :)).

imported_plattopus 11-25-2002 11:22 AM

Just thought I'd chime in here... I'm a ViperHost user myself, and I agree that they are extremely fast!! I haven't had a single second of unscheduled downtime either, which is always good (my old host went down an average of 5 minutes a day).

SaintDog 11-25-2002 12:10 PM

Thankfully, the move went smoothly, although some people have forgotten to change their DNS, which becomes an issue on their part (some people didn't have to change their DNS, some did, Plat, I take it you didn't :)).

imported_plattopus 11-27-2002 08:51 AM

Nope, I use GoDaddy... it only has a box to enter the ns.viperhost.com and stuff, no IP assignments. The ns.blah was already correct, so I just left it.

However, to change a current domain's DNS to ViperHost for an add-on domain, I had to give my other host the IPs.

Brad 11-27-2002 06:50 PM

Same here, everything running smoothly. a little slow last night but it might have been my connection.

Do all the plans sit on the same box?, im just wondering as im on reseller 2 and i hear most do not use the reseller plans.

SaintDog 11-27-2002 08:25 PM

The hosting plans are spread on the 2 main servers, 1 being the main shared, the other being a main reseller box. Many people use the reseller plans, but more so use them for personal websites because the bandwidth is greater, while others use them for profit; all-in-all, it depends on what the need for them is.

Is a reseller a bit like a semi-dedicated server?

Also, I use Viperhost and I run a vBulletin on my site. It runs really fast, there's hardly been any downtime except for when the server move took place. I'm very happy with viperhost, and when my site gets really popular, I will no doubt get a dedicated server with them (if that's possible of course)

To see my vB in action click the http:// button below any of my posts. :)

SaintDog 11-28-2002 02:46 PM

Resellers are just that, they basically allow you to utilize your own "Admin" control panel where *you* can add/remove/delete/edit domains/accounts at your discretion. You decide the amount of space they get as well as the amount of bandwidth; as well as other such resources.

Semi-Dedicated usually provide root access, whereas resellers do not. Semi-Dedicated is usually for those that need the power of a dedicated, although cannot afford a $200/month+ server on their own (we do not yet offer semi-dedicated).

I do have plans to offer dedicated servers soon enough, just need to get some things cleared up before we move any further :).

SaintDog 11-29-2002 11:18 PM

The servers are located in 151 Front Street's data center, for more information you can visit their website, it will tell you all about them :).

Edit: If you need a dedicated, please contact me ASAP and I will see what I can get for you :).
