My next release
I know how to do each of the following...who wants what first? All of these affect forumhome and add one query to forumhome.
ya that will be a sweet template mod :)
calender events would be my choice |
Sounds good, im this close to releasing my Avatar on main page mod. That last mod you released help me spot the error in my query.
Yes, calendar events would be nice.
thats what i wanted since i got a vb. why just put birthdays when u can put calendar events to. i got lots of vb mod/hack ideas but i cant do that stuff. :( lol im here to absorb the info.
Hmm, I'm suprised nobody else ever thought of putting events on the main page. Unless there has been a hack I never saw..
Theres a hack over at vB.org.
There's one more I just thought about: a hackless style dropdown (i.e., Chen's hack but without modifying the PHP files).
Its been done.
I thought it requires editing the dropdown list manually though...
Yup: http://www.vbulletintemplates.com/mo...ighlight=style
Requires editing the HTML, mine would just do everything dynamically. |
so what if there's a hack lets get a template mod of this bad boy lol
Well that's the idea...why hack when you can just mod some templates? Sure makes upgrading easier.
Does it involve more query using?
Does what involve more queries?
The style dropdown automatically updating?
It involves adding one query to forumhome, not sure what Chen's does.
I'm working on the Calendar Events on forumhome at the moment. |

The Annoucements on Forumhome will be too hard to do without some hacking; the reason being is that to view even a global annoucement you must specify a forumid. Doing that also displays whatever other annoucements may be in that forum already, and what's more, it would take several queries (or one hell of a complicated one) to get a forumid that a guest can view.

filburt1, you didn't need to post 5 times in a row. We have edit. ;)
But nice mods. :) |
It was like a news update ;)
Thanks :) |
Well the time differences make it acceptable. Don't worry. ;)
Make me a store hack without using PHP and I will be impressed.
I could, that would just be a really big phpinclude template ;)
True:p
Or, make me an FTP client that works:) |
You could pretty much make lots of hacks into mods using the phpinclude template. The list goes on forever.
